OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Manager will be based in Seoul and manage Alo Yoga’s accounting and finance operations for the Asia Pacific region. The Accounting Manager – APAC will build and supervise the accounting function for our Korean subsidiary, and future subsidiaries in the APAC market. This individual will report to the Director of Accounting and will work in close partnership with local country directors.

The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Manage the financial and accounting processes in the APAC region to ensure compliance with Corporate and local policies, statutory requirements, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles/Standards.
  • Partner with our 3rd party service provider to complete the monthly close process, including bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance.
  • Supervise the monthly account reconciliation process, including the balancing of intercompany accounts.
  • Maintain accounting records in compliance with local laws and regulations, supervise the statutory reporting and audit process.
  • Reconcile monthly payments from retail concessions to internal accounting records.
  • Assist global sales audit team by verifying discounts, price overrides, and voided transactions locally.
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Serve as a local point of contact for tax related matters, including tax/ VAT return filings.
  • Leads country and regional balance sheet and profit/ loss review.
  • Manages all finance related audit requests for the APAC region.
  • Assists the corporate finance team develop and monitor budgeting for APAC markets. Prepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budget.
  • Participate in strategic finance projects within the CFO organization. Exhibit good cross-functional collaboration with the retail, store planning, and business development teams to drive business initiatives and improve operational outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (master's degree or professional certifications such as CPA or CMA preferred).
  • At least 8 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience.
  • A strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Fluent in oral & written English / Korean. Additional language skills are a plus.
  • Experience working with large department stores in the Korean market.
  • Experience in managing statutory and local tax requirements.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing external audits (financial & tax) with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver quality results.
  • Experience in working in a multi-national company.
  • Experiences in the retail or consumer products industries.
