About the role
Our tools are highly complex in-house data coding application software and services in AWS, Python/Spark, C# and Postgres. These data coding/ETL software applications are used within Nielsen Ad Intel business to harmonize and code advertisement related data such as: Television, Radio, Digital, Social, Search, Press, Cinema, Outdoor and other minor media.
The Manager Software Engineer is ultimately responsible for delivering technical solutions while leading a team of 3+ developers: starting from the project's onboard until post launch support and including development, testing and user acceptance. It is expected to coordinate, support and work with multiple delocalized project teams in multiple regions. As a Manager Software Engineer, you will lead the development efforts for our scalable and distributed systems that leverage React for the front end, C# .NET Core and Python/Spark for the backend. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our projects and mentoring other team members.
ResponsibilitiesOversee the development of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective software solutions with an emphasis on quality, best-practice coding standards, and cost-effectiveness Build rapid technical prototypes for early validation of new technologiesRapidly identify and resolve technical incidents as they emergeCollaborate effectively with other application teams to help building the right offerings for our client delivery platformCollaborate with product owners and tech leads to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, providing leadership in the design and architecture processes.Own strategic technology relationships with technology vendors and external communities/partnersProvide expert apprenticeship to project teams on technology strategy, cultivating advanced skill sets in application engineering and implementing modern software engineering practicesLead and mentor a team of Software Developers and Senior Software Developers, providing guidance and support in their professional developmentStay informed about the latest technology and methodology by participating in industry forums, having an active peer network, and engaging actively with customersCultivate a team environment focused on continuous learning, where innovative technologies are developed and refined through collaborative effortKey SkillsDomain Expertise6+ years of experience as a lead / senior developer in agile teams, 4+ years of experience in leading and managing software development teams.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering, with a preference for an MS or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or StatisticsExpertise in big data processing tools/languages and strong cloud implementation in cloud architecture.Comprehensive knowledge of storage, network, compute services, and multi-zone, region-based designs.
Technical SkillsProficiency in Frontend and Backend technologies like ReactJS and NodeJS (or C#, Java) with strong capabilities in SQL. Candidates with experience in other frameworks such as Angular, Python and Java will also be considered.Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux OS, shell scripting, Python, JSON, YAML.Experience in designing and implementing scalable services and modern UI applicationsAdvanced knowledge in Cloud Services & Storage, such as AWS S3, PostgreSQL or MySQL, Compute services; AWS Certification is a plus.Skills in Terraform, Cloud Formation.In-depth experience with multi-region, multi-AZ design.
