The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.
LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Manager, Sport Equipment Deputy
The Manager, Sport Equipment Deputy will play a critical role within the LA28 Sport team, reporting to the Manager, Sport Equipment and managing the procurement of all LA28 sport equipment required for the delivery of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role will work within Sport and with the Competition Management team to progress the detailed plans for all sport equipment for pre-Games testing and Games-time.
The role will be expected to collaborate within the Sport department as well as with other LA28 functions including Logistics, Procurement, Legal, Finance, Commercial and Brand/Look.
Planning & Execution
- Manage and refine the project timeline and key deliverables for the sport equipment project including procurement timelines.
- Partner with sport managers for each sport/discipline and the procurement team to research and analyze the market for sport specific equipment.
- Develop a warehouse/storage plan and identify all needs and communicate to LA28 Logistics as it relates to procurement
- Accurately maintain the sport equipment database estimated at 4000+ line items that covers all equipment to procure for all competition and training venues as well as any sport testing.
Procurement & Partnerships
- Identify any potential partnership opportunities with suppliers or vendors in partnership with Sport Managers.
- Research lead times for the procurement of larger sport equipment items, ensuring they align with any testing activities for the specific sport/discipline and Games-time as well as aligning with venue build timelines.
- Develop requests for proposals in consultation with the LA28 Procurement team and with sport specific and technical input from LA28 Sport Managers.
- Lead supplier negotiations in partnership with Sport Managers, Procurement Team, Commercial and Legal for a sub-set of sports, while educating suppliers on the rules surrounding trademarks on sport equipment at the Olympic and Paralympic Games
Design & Delivery
- Partner with LA28’s designers to confirm all Look elements related to sport equipment.
- Liaise with Sport Managers to receive all IF approvals related to sport equipment design
- Educate suppliers on the design process and requirements including approvals for application
- Contribute to the development of the receiving process for all sport equipment as well as distribution to venues
Administration & Reporting
- Manage and refine the sport equipment budget within scope, providing updates and escalating risks and opportunities as needed
- Report on the schedule of deliverables, specifically procurement, for the sport equipment project, keeping leadership briefed on any issues and identifying risks
Background & Qualifications:
Background and Requirements
- 5 years’ experience in procurement and/or logistics, ideally in the sport’s industry
- Experience negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues
- Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work
- Required proven ability of building good interpersonal relationships with people across the organization, while balancing assertiveness with diplomacy
- Ability to implement and manage change effectively
- Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
Position Requirements:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The position is in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment
- Ability to lift sport equipment up to 15-20 pounds
- Occasional travel to warehouses and venues within LA region.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required

Submission Requirements:
The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $100,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
