LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Manager, Venue Press Operations:

The Press Operations (PRS) Team’s aim is to deliver high-quality spaces and services to the press (written and photographers) to cover the Olympic and Paralympic Games effectively. This includes the planning, management, and delivery of the Main Press Center (MPC), press operations within competition venues, and key Games-time services tailored to the needs of accredited press such as accommodation, accreditation, transportation, etc.  

The PRS team works in close coordination with other LA28 functional areas to ensure that the press has the infrastructure and support required to tell the stories of the Games to a global audience. From venue layouts and technical requirements to operational planning and Games-time execution, the PRS team plays a critical role in shaping the press experience at the Games.  

Reporting to the Senior Director of Press Services, this person will work collaboratively across functional areas, external partners, and press stakeholders to ensure readiness and excellence in all aspects of in-venue press services delivery in the lead up to the Games Period and throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

Key Responsibilities

Management & Oversight of all Venue Press Operations at LA28 

  • Work with all LA28 functional areas on venue related press areas 
  • Coordinate all milestones and deliverables for press with LA28 functional areas, IOC, IPC and Press stakeholders (as appropriate)  
  • Oversee infrastructure and technical planning for press services, including the development of press areas at competition and non-competition venues as well as the Main Press Center (MPC) 
  • Support coordination with local delivery partners to ensure all press venues are fully operational and ready 

Liaise with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 

  • Serve as a liaison with the IOC, managing communication, information exchange, and alignment of press services. 
  • Regularly review and optimize press service delivery requirements with the IOC. 
  • Facilitate and support IOC site visits, ensuring all venue-related press needs are addressed. 
  • Partner with IOC and IPC to gather requirements, streamline approvals, and identify opportunities for optimization. 
  • Assist in planning and delivering World Press Briefings in coordination with relevant stakeholders. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Build strong working relationships with key functional areas such as Venue Infrastructure, Management, Technology, Hospitality & Ticketing, and Games Operations. 
  • Ensure press planning and services are integrated with overall event planning and align with cross-functional timelines and objectives. 
  • Collaborate closely with Ticketing and Hospitality teams, particularly the Seating Bowl Working Group, to meet press requirements within venues 

Background & Requirements:

Required experience: 

  • Minimu5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships 
  • Experience working across multiple functional areas 

 Required Expertise:

  • Experience implementing communication strategies that are accessible and inclusive to a diverse audience, including considerations for language diversity and accessibility for people with disabilities. 
  • Strong planning, coordination, and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple stakeholders and competing priorities 
  • Ability to understand architectural drawings and venue layouts to help inform planning conversations 
  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills 
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues 
  • Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work where applicable 
  • A collaborative mindset: someone who prioritizes the team and fosters a culture of high performance without ego 
  • An innovative viewpoint, challenging the status quo and thinking ahead to future years of the Movement  

 Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • The position is based in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required 
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment, employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment. 
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment. 
  • Some travel may be required, both locally, domestically and internationally  
  • Ability to travel between venues 
  • Working hours may vary to accommodate different time zones in specific regions 
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere typical of major event planning cycle

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000-$115,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
