THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Mid-level Backend Software Engineer to our Payout team in Portugal! 

At the Payout team, we build solutions that guarantee a reliable, fast and robust payment to our partners. Our mission is to help Gympass build a truly scalable payout platform to support our partners around the world with high availability and consistency, while being flexible and extensible to incorporate new business models.

We have many important challenges such as building a system that gives us the flexibility to have different commercial conditions for different partners that affect their payments, as well as guaranteeing a seamless payment flow. Also, we are responsible for supporting and contributing on new business models that speed up the company growth and profitability.
When it comes to technical challenges, our team works to provide highly scalable solutions, architecture growth, handling large volumes of data and focusing on high availability and consistency, since we are dealing with sensitive data that is money.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience;
  • Work alongside the engineering team on development tasks involving the core business rules of our partners. Development tasks include creating new APIs, developing new event consumers or publishers, and implementing new data structures in our databases;
  • Analyze the performance and scalability issues of the services and propose new solutions that enhance the life cycle of applications;
  • Support existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our product demands;
  • Work in a collaborative and agile environment that prioritizes people over process and is laser-focused on productivity;
  • Work with cutting-edge technologies and edge cases on a global scale;

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
  • At least 2 years of experience in designing and developing modern web applications;
  • Experience with RESTful APIs written in Kotlin and/or Go;
  • Experience with microservices, high volume distributed systems, and Event Driven;
  • Experienced in applying computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis;
  • Experienced in working with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB as well as understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls;
  • Solid software quality and test automation mindset;
  • Communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams located in several countries with different cultures;
  • Advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

For this specific role, please note that Golang knowledge is desired, but not mandatory, there are some application written in Go but the major part of our stack is composed by Kotlin-based systems.
