About the role Based in Brisbane, this role will drive elite athlete wellbeing and performance as the National Tennis Academy Physician, delivering world‑class medical care to Tennis Australia athletes and supporting Australia’s national teams when required. This is a 12‑month contractor role, running from April 2026 to March 2027.
You will deliver the Services for up to 8 hours per week, comprising approximately 4-6 hours of on-site services delivered at the National Tennis Academy at the Queensland Tennis Centre and 2-4 hours off site services covering such matters as phone calls, emails and updating medical records on AMS. In this role you will: Conduct medical screenings for new scholarship athletes, upload results to the Athlete Management System (AMS), and oversee any required follow‑up.
Provide timely onsite and telehealth medical consultations, including injury/illness management, treatment, and appropriate specialist referrals.Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date medical records in AMS and communicate relevant athlete health information to coaching and support staff. Offer ongoing support including travel health advice, oversight of tour-related medical screens, and on‑call medical guidance for tournament physiotherapists. Participate in meetings, workshops, and athlete/parent education sessions, including delivering information on anti‑doping obligations and maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of amendments to the Anti-doping Code. Build strong working relationships with National Tennis Academy staff, athletes, parents, and wider Tennis Australia stakeholders while providing flexible weekly service hours based on program needs.
About you To be successful in this role you will have: Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia At least five (5) years of relevant experience post undergraduate qualifications Worked as a team physician &/or in high performance sport Have demonstrated major apportionment of working week to sports medicine Fellowship of Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians or Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Current Police Check and Working with Children Check (or relevant State equivalent) Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia To Apply If you think you’re up to the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
