Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of 24/7 venue security activities at Pine Knob Music Theatre, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre and Meadow Brook Amphitheatre (The Northern Venues). Ensures the security staff delivers quality service with internal and external guests through excellence in standards, presentation and professionalism. Assists in venue activities such as keeping venue operations on schedule, report writing, inventory management, CCTV operations, pre-event preparedness and managing ancillary components of events in consultation with the Venue Manager. Ensures the venue security department has proper shift coverage and is adhering to approved screening techniques.
Responds to security-related incidents at the Northern Venues and works with the Venue and Event Security Managers to resolve any security related issues. Completes administrative tasks as assigned, including monitoring Venue Leads and Crowd Manager site inspections, assisting with security patrols, daily equipment checks, uniform distribution, attendance tracking and gate set up and break down.
Key Responsibilities:
Keeps the Venue Security Manager informed of any issues that may impact the 24/7 security operations at the Northern Venues
Monitors compliance of required security patrols
Assists with security incidents and provides support to Venue Security Site Leads writing of reports
Ensures equipment including primary and secondary screening devices, hand wands, day of show related paperwork, wristbands etc. are in working condition and properly deployed
Maintains appropriate inventory records of high value items, such as radios, batteries, and anything else deemed necessary by the Venue Security Manager
Assists the Venue Security Manager in ensuring that all security staff are adhering to established policies and procedures
Ensures Venue Security Site Leads conduct shift roll call and assists with conflict resolution for shift assignments
Orients new staff during initial training and beginning of employment
Assists in the tracking and presentation of colleague attendance and discipline
Other duties and projects as assigned
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Associates degree or working towards a Bachelor Degree in area of study, preferably security management or criminal justice, experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with company policy and periodically checked thereafter
Must be willing and able to work long hours, evening and weekends
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(1) year of experience in security and safety, experience with public or private sector security and event management
Professional training certifications in Security Management or Criminal Justice
Working Conditions:
Works at times in a normal office environment where there is physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like
Must be able to work in a variety of outdoor climates including extreme heat and cold, humidity, rain and darkness as well as environments that can include exposure to loud noises to include crowd and concert noise
