Job Summary

The Manager, Communications manages and creates the Ontario Reign's and other entities/departments content viewed by the public. This position also serves as the primary media contact for the Reign and manages all press operations and media relations. Additionally, the Manager Communications oversees all TV, radio and other broadcast and production operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead play-by-play for all Reign games 
  • Deliver original hockey related content for Reign Marketing for all social media platforms and website.  Write compelling features, news stories, game stories, and blog posts on a regular basis to reflect the everyday events of the Ontario Reign. Support departments for any E-news and digital communications content.
  • Responsible for managing hockey team statistical information and game notes by partnering with the Hockey Operations staff and AHL for Media and Club use. Manage and develop the statistical information website for media purposes.
  • Responsible for ensuring all media information is compliant with AHL guidelines including game notes, AHL stats and Player information/biographies. Create and deliver content for pre-game and post-game releases.
  • Manage all Game-day press operations by serving as the main contact for and running the Press Box at both the Toyota Arena and Toyota Sports Center Training Facility. Lead pregame, intermission and postgame broadcast interviews.
  • Responsible for all game day media relations, photography needs and miscellaneous team travel support throughout the season.
  • Collaborate with Marketing leader to ensure hockey information for sales and marketing collateral is accurate, timely and up to date. Assists Marketing efforts by providing support and recommendations to help promote the team.
  • Host and plan out all interviews to ensure they align with the season team brand and marketing message, record all postgame interviews, manage quote collection and transcription for all home and away games for the Ontario Reign.
  • Oversee all home and away game broadcasts and productions to ensure a high quality digital product that is to the standards of the AHL and LA Kings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); and ability to learn required business systems
  • Ability to work nights, all events, weekends, events and holidays as required
  • Ability to work independently both efficiently and effectively

Qualification Standards:

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Journalism, Communications, or a related field

Experience:

  • 4-6 years related work experience
  • 4-6 years minimum of Managerial experience (Small Venue/Company)
  • Demonstrates or has prior Press and Media experience

Payscale: $69,000 - $78,000

Bonus: This position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
