Job Description

Position Summary:

In partnership with the Country Head, this role will be charged with the development and implementation of business strategies and processes designed to increase and commercialize the business in Nigeria. The role will be responsible for aligning the organization's operations with its long-term goals and objectives while analyzing data, identifying areas of improvement, and developing solutions to drive growth and

increase profitability. In addition, the role must stay up to date on industry trends and changes to continuously adapt

and optimize the company’s operations.

Major Responsibilities:

• Work with the Country Head to develop and implement business strategies and plans that align with the

organization’s long-term goals and objectives.

• Analyse data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for

operational changes.

• Review and follow up on departmental plans and budget approvals.
• Overseeing the development and execution of project plans.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of business operations and adjust as needed.
• Identify and implement new technologies and processes to optimize operations.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and changes and adapt the organization’s operations accordingly.
• Key contributor to the planning and execution of NBA Nigeria experiential events (i.e., basketball activities,
hospitality events, fan festivals, concerts, etc.)
• Support the Head of NBA Nigeria, Business Development, Marketing, and Basketball Operations in working
across various departments to develop new monetized concepts, focusing on identifying new opportunities to

generate revenue.

• On-going regular communication with the NBA Africa team as well as EMEA events & operations in London to

review planning & ideation, internal processes, and budget tracking.

• Work on the planning and execution of all NBA Nigeria events and hospitality programs held in Africa or related

business.

• Contribute to the management of agencies & vendors including the research, selection process, and ongoing

management.

• Support development and execution of on-site and post-event research programs.
• Work with department leads on the recap of events and activations.
• Maintain open and ongoing communication lines with the events teams in NJ/NY and London offices.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Extensive experience with rigorous analytical problem-solving, quantitative analysis, and communicating

findings.

• Demonstrated high competency in event planning and operations.
• Commercial market leader with deep relationships, insights, and an understanding of local partnerships,
content, grassroots development, monetization, and operations Strong understanding of building a youth

fanbase using social media and digital platforms for fan engagement.

• Ability to work independently in a complex and dynamic environment.
• Experience with working within a multinational organization is preferred.
• Exceptional relationship-building, written, verbal, presentation, and project management skills.
• Ability to develop creative solutions that will meet the objectives of prospective marketing and basketball

operation partners.

• A strong understanding of financial and operational analysis, business process improvement, and strategic

planning.

• Flexible, with the ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
• Willingness to travel significantly to Johannesburg, across Africa, and to the U.S., as required.
• Business-level fluency in English.
• Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and operational agility.
• A background in organizational development and process improvement is a plus.
• Financial modelling experience is an asset.

Experience Needed:

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in general management, new business development, and/or
business operations role in Nigeria Prior experience building fan engagement platforms to maximize reach,

preferred.

• Must have experience in project management and strategy development.
• Must have experience in selling and managing partnerships/sponsorships.
• Prior expertise working for a sports organization and supporting celebrity/athlete events is preferred, but not

required.

• Must have direct events management experience in Africa.
• A background in consulting is a plus.
• Basketball knowledge and/or affinity is a plus.

Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• A master’s degree in business or management is preferred.

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000
