THE POSITION

As a Senior Manager, Operational Excellence, you will lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives that enable operational scalability, launch readiness, and continuous performance improvement across the organization. You’ll be responsible for driving the strategy and execution of critical business rhythms tied to major sporting events, product launches, and marquee moments. Your role will influence both the strategic and operational direction of the business by aligning processes, people, and priorities for maximum impact. This role offers visibility across all aspects of the company and plays a key role in shaping how Operations scales effectively and efficiently.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN

  • Lead Operational Readiness Strategy: Own and drive the design, execution, and continuous refinement of cross-functional readiness playbooks for high-stakes events
  • Direct Program Governance: Oversee all related ceremonies, working groups, steering forums, and executive updates to ensure alignment, clarity, and delivery against readiness objectives.
  • Risk & Resiliency Planning: Proactively identify operational risks, establish mitigation plans with relevant stakeholders, and ensure robust contingency and escalation protocols are documented and maintained.
  • Operational Excellence Frameworks: Define and evolve standardized operating models for process optimization, issue prevention, and sustainable performance improvement across Operations and partner teams.
  • Performance Monitoring & Insights: Drive the ongoing measurement and analysis of team performance against OKRs and strategic objectives, surfacing insights and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Cross-functional Partnership & Influence: Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Product, Engineering, and Operations to align initiatives and establish scalable ways of working.
  • Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and direction to junior members of the Operational Excellence team, with potential for direct people management responsibilities.
  • Business Planning & Executive Engagement: Lead the creation of high-impact materials for business reviews, strategy offsites, and operational planning, ensuring clarity, prioritization, and results alignment.
  • Impact Assessment & Requirements: Drive assessment of downstream impacts across regulatory, product, and operations and identify net new requirements to support launches

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, program management, or a related field—experience in sports, tech, or gaming preferred
  • 2+ years of experience managing people & teams preferred
  • Proven success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with high visibility and tight timelines
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities, balancing strategic focus with hands-on execution
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of using data to drive decisions and improve outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and drive scalable processes
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy while fostering collaboration and alignment
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills
  • Proficiency in tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Asana, and Microsoft Office; experience with business intelligence tools is a plus
  • Passion for sports, gaming, or online entertainment a strong plus

The applicable salary range for this position is $127,000 - $159,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
