The arena has witnessed many historic moments, unforgettable performances, and become an iconic landmark in the region for the most popular and important events. 

Position Summary:

The Manager, Operations oversees the day-to-day functions of the venue's operational services, including direct management of utility operations employees and indirect oversight of daytime housekeeping and third-party janitorial services staff during non-event times. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance to operating standards and that venue common area facilities are maintained clean, safe, and orderly fashion. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for administrating the department's safety and sustainability programs and ensuring that all special event activities comply with the LA LIVE Campus policies and procedures. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversee, direct and manage the venue’s operations utility personnel and coordinates maintenance activities with the engineering staff.  Will indirectly oversee the loading dock operations, AM Housekeeping Staff and daytime operational needs. Coordinates with the Event Services team to ensure event needs in the AM shift are met.
  • Oversee ice making team members to ensure hockey ice is within the LA Kings specifications. Work with the Ice Foreman to develop and implement unique ice procedures to maintain the highest quality ice sheet for NHL games. 
  • Enforce Union and Labor regulations to ensure the venue is in compliance from Local union contracts by working with the union foreman. 
  • Conduct regular quality control walkthroughs of the venue and documents maintenance, safety and cleanliness issues. Tracks and logs findings and assists in distributing work orders to the proper departments for correction. Uses the 24/7 software to track work order, PM’s and prioritize projects. Provides inspection report of damages and work with event team to bill events for repair costs.
  • Oversee and manage the established operating budgets for maintenance supplies and operations utility. Maintains supply inventories and oversees ordering of supplies and equipment.
  • Inspects back of house operations and ensures that policies and procedures are followed. Maintains records and reports issues to senior management.
  • Key stakeholder in developing and managing venue’s safety programs, in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention programs. Oversees the planning of monthly safety topics and tracks team member safety training.
  • Oversee sustainability programs focused on reducing the waste stream activities from the LA LIVE Campus (e.g., food composting, grease waste, cardboard recycling). Works with AEG sustainability managers, third party tenants, and service providers on compliance and best practices. Manages data on waste stream activities and provides to the AEG One Earth team for inclusion in the year-end report.
  • Inspect and assist with the management of special event load ins and/or outs ensuring that the venue’s property is not damaged. Provides inspection report of damages and works with event teams to bill events for repair costs.
  • Assist with campus emergency management as required. Provide inventory of related equipment & other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree Preferred).
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of event related work experience, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge and previous work experience with NBA, NHL, live events or other family shows.
  • Knowledge and previous work experience in Venues and/or facilities.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn required business systems.
  • Experience working with and managing department operating budgets. 
  • Experience overseeing quality control processes. 
  • Experience developing and implementing safety programs and trainings.
  • Experience developing sustainability programs. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with change.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, every changing environment.
  • Ability to achieve results through flawless execution of strategies and objectives.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must have OSHA 30 or ability to complete within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to work irregular hours such as evening, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Previous Union experience
  • Forklift certified or ability to obtain forklift certification
  • FOMA- Facility Ops Manager Association membership
  • CIT- Certified Ice Technician
  • IAVM VMS 1 & 2  
  • Working knowledge of trades (electrical, plumbing, engineering, HVAC, construction)
  • Experienced in crowd control dynamics

Pay Scale: $69,397 - $86,000
