This is a unique opportunity to connect hands-on clinical expertise with cutting-edge product innovation.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re seeking a clinically grounded Physical Therapist with significant clinical experience across cash-pay and insurance environments, along with a strong background in product development, to help shape how Tonal supports musculoskeletal recovery and rehabilitation.

You’ll work closely with the Tonal Healthcare Strategy team to ensure our products align with real-world rehabilitation workflows, drive clinical adoption, and lay the foundation for future regulatory compliance.

CONTRACTOR DELIVERABLES & OUTCOMES

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that Tonal’s healthcare product and go-to-market strategy are clinically credible, workflow-compatible, and reimbursable.

Your focus will span four key areas:
1. Jobs-To-Be-Done (JTBD) & Workflow Mapping

  • Map key JTBD and workflows for Physical Therapists  in multiple environments, including but not limited to cash-pay and insurance models, hospital networks and stand alone clinics.

  • Define core JTBD, pain points, and Tonal applications that support clinic adoption.

2. Pilot Feedback & Product Recommendations

  • Participate in regular data collection exercises (verbal and written) across 5 active pilot clinics.

  • Analyze clinician feedback and deliver monthly insights.

  • Recommend prioritized product enhancements aligned with clinical value and feasibility.

3. Reimbursement Strategy & Compliance Requirements

  • Identify optimal CPT billing pathways and documentation workflows for Tonal-supported interventions (e.g., 97530, 97110, 97750, 97112).

  • Outline EMR integration, supervision rules, and ICD/CPT pairings.

  • Specify HIPAA compliance requirements for use in clinical settings.

4. Strategy & Go-to-Market Support Support

  • Participate in workshops to shape market entry.

  • Advise on pricing tiers, product features, and competitive positioning.

  • Submit 2 strategic memos to guide go-to-market and product strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with 5+ years of outpatient rehab experience.

  • Experience in digital health, product development, or clinical innovation

  • Deep familiarity with HIPAA, CPT codes, EMRs, and billing workflows

  • Strong communicator with ability to connect clinical needs to product goals

PREFERRED

  • Experience with connected fitness, AI coaching, or digital resistance technologies

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing technology within clinical/rehab settings and using data-driven approaches to improve patient outcomes (e.g., isokinetic testing, force plate analysis, or computer vision applications).
