THE JOB / Public Relations Trainee

This trainee will play an essential role in helping the PR department stay organized, proactive, and informed. The position is ideal for someone eager to gain real-world experience in sports communications, grow their skillset, and contribute to a high-performing team.

Who we’re looking for:

• Current student or recent graduate in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field
• Strong writing and organizational skills with a detail-oriented and proactive mindset
• Passion for sports, media, and storytelling
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with social media and media monitoring platforms

The work you’ll do…

• Support the PR department in day-to-day coordination of PR campaigns and strategies across divisions
• Draft and edit basic PR materials such as bios, media advisories, marketing materials, etc.
• Research emerging media voices, journalists, and outlets to identify new opportunities, while building and maintaining media contact lists
• Monitor athlete mentions, sports coverage, and trending stories, compiling reports and media clippings to track visibility and impact
• Support proactive media outreach by assisting with pitches, press recaps, tracking, and research
• Assist with general department organization, file management, and media documentation
• Contribute creative ideas for storytelling, social tie-ins, or athlete spotlights during team brainstorms
