About the Role & Team

The mission of our Retail team is to elevate the fan experience by providing players with a premium betting experience that empowers sports fans to bet with confidence and ease. As a QA Analyst for our retail team you develop and document test plans, test cases, and utilize verification and validation techniques for application functionality. You will also have the opportunity to liaise with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers and designers, to ensure correct product functionalities. The ideal candidate has strong communications skills, a passion for hardware/software testing and a strong attention to detail. An interest in professional sports, betting & eSports is a plus.

Typical Workday at theScore:

  • As part of the QA team, your primary responsibility will be testing & validating the Kiosks, OTC (Over The Counter), Oddsboards CMS and Admin Applications on theScore platform.
  • You will also be involved in cross-platform & integration testing (e.g., OTC, Kiosk, Android, iOS, and Web) to assess product readiness for production releases.
  • Create test plans for new & updated product requirements - Kiosks, Oddsboards and other interfaces.
  • Building test artifacts and documentation from scratch based on the product requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all the regulatory requirements are fulfilled while reviewing the documentation and validating the deliverables.
  • Proactively take initiatives especially in debugging the basic technical implementation/features.
  • Create, manage and execute the smoke test plan during each release phase.
  • Support the creation of automated validations on new & existing test cases.
  • Participate in bug triaging, priority assessment, and coverage tracking of Kiosk/Retail bugs into our preferred defect tracking system.
  • Develop and document test plans, test cases, and utilize verification and validation techniques for application functionality.
  • Work and liaise with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers and designers, to ensure correct product functionalities.
  • Prioritize testing tasks & test cases; track & report on testing activities while following best practices and established standards.
  • Manage multiple concurrent objectives like exploratory and ad-hoc testing.
  • Actively participate in daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and lessons learned meetings.
  • Update release artifacts and provide release updates and attend release meetings as required

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with retail customer and operator facing products.
  • Previous exposure to hardware testing (i.e. Kiosk, POS, etc.) and either Android and iOS application testing is a definite plus.
  • Must be within GTA and able to be in the Toronto office for lab testing
  • Experience using a defect tracking system (we use JIRA and Confluence).
  • Excellent communication skills, skilled at writing detailed bug reports and QA artifacts, and can easily explain technical problems.
  • Demonstrate a passion for shipping high-quality retail and mobile applications.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-starter; adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Computer Science degree, Engineering, Analytics,  or other relevant programs.
  • The candidate should be local to Toronto/GTA.

Main Tools Used & Preferred

  • Having experience testing peripherals (scanners, printers, card readers, etc.) is a big plus.
  • Linux and/or Elixir
  • Test Management: TestRail, Cucumber
  • Android SDK tools and/or Xcode
  • Web/HTTP Proxy tools such as Charles Proxy
  • Atlassian: Jira, Confluence
  • Jenkins, Circle CI, App Center, TestFlight, and Github
