THE ROLE: SALES MANAGER, SPECIALTY CHANNEL

Reporting to the VP, GSN Sales, this role will lead and / or oversee a specific subset of customer partners across the WBC. These customers include, but are not limited to, The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, Lil Drug, AAFES, NEXCOM, McKesson, Cardinal Drug, Kohls, DECA, Vistar and the Dollar Channel. This individual will be responsible for selling the product portfolio of Unilever’s Wellbeing Collective (UL WBC) operating companies to include OLLY, ONNIT, SMARTYPANTS and WELLY. Our Sales Manager will interface with our customer partners in offering solution-based selling as well as leading and directing our broker partnerships. This role will have one individual contributor report in addition to their customer responsibilities.  This is a remote role with required travel for customer meetings, trade shows and company Off Sites. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Oversee all sales efforts within the assigned customer base 
  • Team responsibility - People management and mentorship of account manager 
  • Build and nurture customer relations with our category merchants and procurement buyers 
  • Responsible for forecasting all business and achieving annual “net revenue” targets across each OPCO 
  • Articulate the unique and premium position of each of the HWC operating companies  
  • Annual Joint Business Planning with our strategic partnerships, including, but not limited to, The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC and Lil Drug. 
  • Category Stewardship within the VMS and OTC categories. Be the expert within our competing categories. 
  • Strategically & profitably plan and execute Annual Business Plans at within the designated areas 
  • Be the “execution arm”.  Bring our business plans to life at retail. 
  • Plan and execute profitable, “on-strategy” annual promotion plans. Creativity and out of the box ideation. 
  • Ensure pricing/financial guidelines are followed in the marketplace. 
  • Partner cross functionally with our Sales Strategy and Shopper Marketing leads.

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED  

  • A proven track record of great success with a minimum of 10+ years sales experience within the CPG industry. Preferably a top tier CPG organization with traditional industry training. 
  • Deep knowledge of the Specialty Channel ecosystem. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead cross functionally within the WBC. 
  • Strong personal and professional drive to get things done with little input from your report to manager. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and multi-tasking ability 
  • Strong negotiation skills in ”getting to yes” with retail partners. 
  • The ability to analyze and say “no” to business decisions that are “off strategy”. 
  • Energy, passion, and a strong desire to build a transformational brand in today’s marketplace. 
  • Ability to change information into insights for actionable growth. High IQ for analytics is a requirement. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovative sensibility.  Think like you own the company. 
  • Come to the party with solutions around issues and process. 
  • Ability to make day to day decisions without direction. 
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to mentor, coach, lead and direct. 
  • A true “Team Player” who can work cross-functionally to achieve results 

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS 

  • Initial video screen and interview with the Hiring Manager 
  • Round 1: 1-2 conversations with other team members 
  • Round 2: 1-2 conversations with team or cross-functional partners  
  • Final Round: Homework*
