What will you do?

  • Material Creation: Design and develop high-quality PBR materials and textures for environments and assets within the game, 3D modelling/texturing of environment assets

  • Optimization: Ensure all materials are optimized for real-time rendering on target platforms, balancing visual fidelity with performance constraints 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Environment Artists, Modelers, and other team members to integrate materials seamlessly into the game world

  • Material Library: Build, maintain, and regularly update a shared material library that can be accessed by Environment Artists and other team members, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the project's assets

  • Consistency: Maintain visual consistency across different assets by adhering to the project's art direction and style guide

  • Quality Assurance: Review and polish materials to ensure they meet the highest visual standards and function correctly in-game 

  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for material creation workflows and best practices 

What are we looking for?

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Material Artist in the video game industry, preferably on AAA titles
  • Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in material creation, PBR workflows, and real-time rendering
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Substance 3D Sampler, ZBrush, Quixel mixer, Photoshop, Autodesk Maya/Blender (final setup in Maya) and other relevant software
  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of texture mapping, UV layout, and the technical aspects of material creation
  • Artistic Skills: Strong eye for detail, color, and composition, with the ability to create realistic and visually appealing materials
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment 

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Game Engine Experience: Experience with Unreal Engine 5 or other cutting-edge game engines

  • Photogrammetry: Experience in photogrammetry, including shooting, processing, and creating textures based on this technique

  • Shader Knowledge: Experience with shader creation and optimization in engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity

  • Scripting Knowledge: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., HLSL, GLSL) for shader development 

  • Next-Gen Platforms: Experience working on games for next-gen consoles and high-end PC hardware

Hybrid (2-3 days of work from the office)
