The team’s work spans across all business units, with a focus on initiatives that will drive growth at Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and across its portfolio companies, which, in addition to FSM, include the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Common Golf, PGA TOUR, New England Sports Network, FSG Real Estate, Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing and The SpringHill Company. It is a lean team that works closely with a broad group of senior executives to develop and execute organic and inorganic growth opportunities at FSG and its subsidiaries.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Associate will be key member of the team responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing new business and partnership opportunities, as well as strategic acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures. This includes upfront idea generation, development of financial models, leading valuation analysis and active participation in deal structuring. The team is seeking an intellectually curious, creative thinker who possesses excellent analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate is hard-working and proactive, with a background in finance, management consulting, or corporate strategy/development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist in the Identification, Evaluation and Execution of Potential Strategic Growth OpportunitiesSupport executive leadership on all matters related to FSG’s corporate development and strategyMonitor trends and transactions across the sports, media and entertainment ecosystem, interpret data, and identify potential competitive opportunities/threats facing FSG and its propertiesGenerate inbound and outbound deal flowConduct market assessments, size new opportunities (related to current and new lines of business), and evaluate potential strategic initiatives, partners and transactionsCollaborate with senior management and outside advisors to assess potential M&A opportunities that support and accelerate strategic prioritiesParticipate in meetings and contribute to building, maintaining and strengthening partner relationships throughout the life of a transaction and beyondBuild detailed financial and operating models and develop various financial analysesPrepare and present analyses, conclusions and recommendations to senior leadershipAssist with transaction execution, including:Conducting financial modeling, valuation, comparable/relative value analyses and market-specific analysesCoordinating due diligence efforts with internal and external counterpartiesManaging information flow across a cross-functional deal teamAssisting with deal negotiationsCHARACTERISTICS / QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree required3+ years of experience at an investment bank, private equity firm, management consulting firm or in a corporate strategy/development role at a large companyExcellent financial modeling, valuation/transaction and quantitative analyses skills Intellectually curious and passionate about the business of sports, media and entertainmentHighly organized, self-motivated and persistent team-player with outstanding work ethicExceptional judgment with strong written and verbal communication skillsHigh degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and efficientlyAbility to thrive on a small team, wearing many different hats and having significant exposure to senior leadership, with the composure and confidence to work on several projects simultaneouslyAbility to work effectively and independently across functions/business units in a rapidly changing business environmentStrong interpersonal skills and outbound mentality who can successfully build beneficial relationshipsAbility to work with confidential and sensitive information in a discrete mannerMust be based in or willing to relocate to Boston, MA and willing to occasionally travel#FSM
