LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Senior Associate of Medical Operations:

The Senior Associate of Medical Operations supports the planning, coordination, and execution of medical services across competition and non-competition venues.  
 
Reporting to the Manager of Medical Operations, this position contributes to safe, efficient, and athlete- and spectator-centered medical operations. 

Key Responsibilities

Venue Medical Operations Support 

  • Support end-to-end planning and coordination of venue-based medical services across assigned competition and non-competition venues. 
  • Develop Venue specific emergency action plans by sport, and communicate plans cross functionally with stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate with Venue Medical Teams (VMTs), functional areas, and delivery partners to support integrated venue readiness. 
  • Maintain consistency and standardization across venues while accounting for sport- and site-specific requirements. 

 

Operational Planning & Execution 

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of detailed venue medical operations plans, including staffing models, equipment allocation, patient flow, and service delivery frameworks. 
  • Maintain planning tools, trackers, and documentation to support operational readiness (e.g., run-of-show, readiness checklists, risk logs). 
  • Support test events and simulation exercises. 

 

Medical Service Delivery & Readiness 

  • Coordinate medical assets including equipment, supplies, and venue medical spaces to ensure operational readiness. 
  • Support development of service delivery standards aligned with IOC/IPC and IF requirements. 

 

Emergency Preparedness & Incident Support 

  • Develop and coordinate of venue-specific emergency action plans  
  • Organize and execute scenario planning, tabletop exercises, and full-scale simulations. 
  • Contribute to incident response coordination during test events and Games-time operations, escalating issues through appropriate channels. 
  • Support integration of environmental health, heat mitigation, and mass-casualty planning into venue operations. 

 

Stakeholder & Partner Coordination 

  • Coordinate across internal functional areas (Sport, Venue Operations, Security, Workforce, Technology) to align medical operational needs. 

 

Compliance, Documentation & Reporting 

  • Support development, maintenance, and distribution of operational documentation including medical manuals, SOPs, and training materials. 
  • Maintain accurate records of planning assumptions, decisions, and operational updates. 

 

Cross-Functional Integration 

  • Collaborate with Technology teams to support implementation and operational readiness of systems such as EMR. 
  • Coordinate with Workforce teams to support staffing plans, onboarding, and training alignment. 
  • Contribute to integrated planning efforts across GLS and MED FA workstreams. 

 

Budget & Workforce Support 

  • Assist in tracking budget-related inputs  
  • Support workforce planning efforts including scheduling inputs, role clarity, and deployment coordination. 
  • Contribute to ensuring appropriate staffing levels aligned with operational requirements. 

Background & Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in medical planning and operations, preferably within or elite sports environment. 
  • Direct experience with medical delivery for large-scale elite sporting events; Olympic/Paralympic experience strongly preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. 

Expectations:

  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and the ability to execute complex operational plans with consistency and accuracy 
  • Able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines 
  • Follows through on tasks and commitments with a high degree of reliability and accountability 
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and resilient under pressure. 
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in a sports medicine related field is highly preferred. 
  • Relevant medical or emergency management and instructor certifications (e.g., EMT, Paramedic) are a plus. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Expected to be in LA28 offices in Los Angeles.  

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000-$98,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
