The Job

In this role, you will be responsible for crafting dialogue for Flo’s chatbot that supports, informs, and inspires our users to learn more and improve their health.

Working across various topics, from sexual health to pregnancy and conditions like endometriosis, you will design and write chat experiences that are accessible, engaging, and meet the high standards of Flo’s voice, as well as pass our medical and legal reviews.

You will be joining a small but market-leading team of conversation designers and engineers, part of a wider chatbots product team dedicated to creating unrivaled user experiences. This role straddles content and design to deliver top-notch experiences within Flo’s Health Assistant feature.

In order to ensure your chat experiences are designed as strategically as possible, you’ll also work closely with our product analysts to understand the performance of every interaction, and to ensure every initiative you work on ladders up to our business goals and mission.

If you’re passionate about merging copywriting with user experience design and are looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact in the health tech space, we encourage you to apply for this role.

Your Experience

Must have:

  • Ability to produce excellent, focused, and empathetic chat experiences that assist users effectively.
  • Experience in writing engaging, long and short-form content derived from complex information.
  • Data and analytical acumen, using analytics to inform design decisions, being capable of analysing performance data and making iterative improvements.
  • Skills in designing chat experiences that align with and advance our quarterly business objectives.
  • Ability to present your designs to stakeholders and engineers tasked with building the final product
  • Flexible and motivated mindset, adept at managing multiple small tasks or dedicating to a single project over an extended period.
  • Willingness to collaborate closely with various teams and learn from different disciplines to create the best products.
  • Growth mindset – be open to receiving and acting on feedback, keen on identifying and filling gaps in knowledge and skills.
  • Proactive attitude, be an active participant in meetings, presentations, and projects, with a knack for spotting and initiating content or process enhancements.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in conversation design within a product company, particularly an app.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology.
  • Background in a startup environment.
  • Proficiency with tools like Looker, Jira, Figma, Miro, and Contentful.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Creating release-ready chat experiences that pass rigorous content, medical, and legal checks.
  • Generating innovative ideas for Flo’s chatbot, using insights and data to justify new angles and formats.
  • Regularly assessing the performance and business impact of your chat experiences, suggesting and planning improvements.
  • Presenting your work and insights to the wider team and across other teams.

What you wont be doing:

  • Creating non-essential chat on general lifestyle topics – our content is focused on menstrual and reproductive health.
  • Having total autonomy to create and execute chatbot projects in isolation. All of our work is a team effort, involving input from everyone from product managers to medical advisors.
  • Operating independently without team support – we work and thrive as a collaborative unit.

Your targets will be:

  • Directly contribute to meeting team metrics like trial sign-ups, engagement rates, completion rates, and user retention.
  • Follow and enhance production processes effectively.
  • Help contribute to a team environment that is positive, honest, curious, and collaborative.
