OVERVIEW:

Gymshark is currently in its scale up era, right across the business each function is a hive of activity really taking its output to the next level.

We're looking for a couple of Senior Go Engineers to join our platform engineering team, working in a squad with around 5 other engineers, a Scrum Master, Product Owner, Business Analyst and Engineering Manager to support.

Our platform engineering team is made of 4 squads, each working in a different domain area: Customer, Product, Operations and Logistics, and each squad has services and integrations they own. Each squad is focussed on key business priorities, helping build a successful brand and utilising industry best tools (Golang, Event Driven Architecture and AWS Serverless technologies such as; Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, DynamoDB) to build scalable solutions to enable business expansion.

Being part of a Tech function of around 150 people, made up of Engineering, Operation, Platform and Delivery working on a mix of Gymshark internal products and Customer facing products; we have a wonderful team of skills and experienced that have been carefully crafted and curated from both within the walls of Gymshark and also lots of other businesses - we're not perfect as a function but we're pretty awesome; learning and sharing is encouraged and we want you to be part of the journey.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Confidently using Golang to build event driven solutions to support critical business processes
Creating, maintaining and developing CI/CD pipeline
Successfully using security and containerisation as well as actively providing feedback
Building scalable and valuable software leveraging AWS Serverless technologies such as; Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, DynamoDB
Working closely with the other engineering teams to build APIs (REST & GraphQL) to create an engineering guild
Focus on creating testable, maintainable and scalable code following Tech standards
Working in the Tech team with an Agile development approach
Maintaining existing services, ensuring a high standard of observability and proactive monitoring, in addition to responding to incidents. (Especially during peak sale periods critical to business success!)
As a senior you’ll be expected to own the solution approach and implementation of business features
Mentoring and coaching other Engineers in their solution building

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Essential Criteria:

Must have experience in software engineering and writing production code in Golang
Experience using cloud based serverless services (such as AWS Lamba, Google Cloud Run or Azure Functions)
Must have a demonstrable knowledge building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
Experience designing, setting up databases as well as have an understanding of relational and non-relational approaches
Experience designing, building and maintaining scalable APIs
An understanding of Event Driven Architecture concepts
Experience using Git and understand branching strategies
Experience implementing quality and testing best practices within the services you produce, such as unit testing and contract testing
Commercial Awareness and a creative problem solver with the ability to think laterally and understand the cost and value drivers within a competitive business environment

Please note: The office is a place of collaboration and innovation, we feel this role works well as a hybrid opportunity and would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week in GSHQ, Solihull, UK - come on, be part of the fun!
