About the Role & Team

The design system team’s mission is to deliver an internal product that will make the lives of our designers and other engineers better. We are a unique team in the company in that we are comprised equally of designers and engineers across all front end platforms (web, native iOS, and native Android). Our design system is called Alley-oop and we are striving to build this tool from the ground up to help improve efficiency, consistency, and quality of life across the organization. The team is incredibly friendly, supportive, and committed to doing great things. We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to help drive best practices both within our team as well as advocacy to the greater mobile community within the company. One of the company’s goals for this year is to show that we can start leveraging our design system to enable server driven UI across our applications. This position will provide the opportunity to make a significant impact across all engineering teams within the company.

About the Work

As a key member of our Design System team you will:

  • Help lead the technical development and evolution of our design system, ensuring it meets the needs of various product teams and adheres to best practices in mobile development.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to implement and maintain design system components and patterns.
  • Drive the adoption of the design system across product teams, providing guidance, support, and documentation as needed.
  • Continuously optimize the performance, accessibility, and usability of design system components to enhance the overall user experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in mobile development and design systems, incorporating relevant advancements into our practices and processes.
  • Showcase mobile best practices to solve complex implementation challenges across multiple applications and brands.
  • Other duties as required.

About You

  • 3+ years of experience working with Swift, UIKit,
  • Experience building applications with SwiftUI
  • Experience building scalable components and infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial iOS development 
  • A demonstrated ability in delivering clean, organized, testable, and highly performant code.
  • A drive to continually improve application quality and development processes
  • Experience with unit testing.
  • Experience working with Git. 
  • Experience working with Cocoapods and/or Swift Package Manager.
  • Experience working with large native code bases with significant complexity.
  • Experience with mobile CI/CD tools and automation (eg. GitHub actions, Fastlane)
  • Experience with production monitoring tools (eg. Crashlytics, Datadog)
  • Solid knowledge of object-oriented design, software development principles, and design patterns.
  • Solid knowledge of concurrency best practices and pitfalls.
  • Highly proficient with profiling/debugging tools.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in mentorship, teaching, and delivering presentations are considered an asset
  • A passion for sports and/or gaming is considered an asset.

Please note that the actual salary for this position may vary, as it is dependent on various factors including but not limited to experience, location, and market dynamics.
