As a Senior Payroll Manager, you will be a leading expert on all aspects of payroll tax matters. You will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the day-to-day payroll function. This includes ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with relevant regulations, and implementing best practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage your expertise to contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and resolve complex tax issues.
  • Process semi-monthly payrolls for multiple entities.
  • Process special event payrolls.
  • Assist with Major League Umpire year-end reconciliation.
  • Generates post-payroll reports, and general ledgers entries.
  • Review and approve bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Act as liaison with Finance Department to review and reconcile payroll accounts.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment requirements and regulations as well as multi-state payroll taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR to address payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Responsible for all payroll related year-end process (taxable earnings, W2, etc.).
  • Ability to support the Director of Payroll in her absence both at meetings and in the office.
  • Manage team of 2 of payroll specialists.
  • Duties and projects as assigned.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong tax experience including multi-states taxation experience.
  • Deep knowledge of full-cycle US payroll.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of in-house payroll.
  • Previous experience of managing payroll team is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Finance/Accounting major is a plus. CPP certificate preferred.
  • Experience with Workday payroll platform required, and ADP payroll platforms preferred.
  • Experience with payroll and time tracking implementation is a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel/MS word and Windows environment required.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering and reviewing payroll data.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Availability to work 3+day/week onsite in our corporate office in Midtown Manhattan

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
