The Role
Hone is looking for a Senior SEO Manager to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Senior Editorial Director, but you’ll work closely with conversion and engineering teams to drive tangible growth through technical and on-page SEO strategies. You will also consult on features and optimizations that can aid in a better SERP-to-Purchase journey and support eCommerce levers including product landing pages. You have a strategic mindset and can collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.
This role requires a deep understanding of search engine algorithms, SEO principles, strategies, and techniques. You’re relentless about staying up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and best practices, and doggedly implement changes as necessary. You could happily spend hours digging into SEO tools like Moz, Ahrefs, GA, GSC, etc., and love evangelizing SEO to your colleagues.
Primary Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Strategy: Create and implement SEO strategies to increase traffic and improve search rankings
- Technical SEO: Own technical SEO monitoring including regular audits, crawl log analysis, tracking core web vitals, and investigating indexing errors. Identify technical issues and opportunities for improvements and work with developers to implement fixes and enhancements
- SEO Trends and Best Practices: Stay ahead of the evolving SEO landscape (industry news, trends, algorithm updates, and best practices). Keep our team informed and help implement changes as trends change
- On-Page SEO Updates: Identify blog articles to update and make update recommendations to the content team
- Performance Monitoring & Resolution: Monitor and report on SEO performance using analytics tools, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
- Keyword Research: Assist content and marketing team members with ad-hoc keyword research to identify high-potential keywords tied to article ideas and landing pages that align with user intent and search trends
- Internal Linking Strategies: Develop scalable internal linking solutions
Requirements
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in Business, Media, Journalism, Digital Marketing
- 7+ years of experience in SEO on a large-scale website that includes a deep pool of content (NOT content marketing), including technical and on-page optimization with a proven track record of success
- Deep understanding of Core Web Vitals, Page Speed, and Lighthouse metrics with the ability to identify and resolve issues impacting search
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Extensive experience with Google tools (GA4, GSC, Tag Manager, Looker) and other SEO tools (SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Moz, etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of affiliate best practices and brands/products that perform best in search
- Experience with Google News and Discover, including technical requirements for top stories, schema, snippets, and image optimization
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adhere to deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment
- Creative problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset
- Can quickly learn new technology systems and communication tools
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- A strong GIF game to bring to our Slack channels

Please note that the actual salary for this position may vary, as it is dependent on various factors including but not limited to experience, location, and market dynamics.
