The candidate will collaborate with Product, Data Science & Operations teams to ensure that the software is built per specifications and with the highest quality. The candidate must be a self starter with a desire to understand our unique business and the associated technical challenges. This requires a self-managed strong technical candidate that can take special projects from inception to completion.

DESCRIPTIONDesign and implement new features and enhancements to our complex analytics products. Analyze requirements, and propose solutions using software modulesUse programming languages, data management tools, and orchestration tools to implement designs. Integrate solutions with internal services. Lead group brainstorming and problem-solving sessions, conduct training sessions on high value technical topics, and provide technical support to colleagues. Use workflow tools to keep track of tasks, manage quality, and help with developer productivity. Develop proficiency with Nielsen’s internal platforms, help teammates navigate technical blockers, and perform code reviews. Provide technical feedback and mentorship, facilitate discussions around solution implementation, and merge changes after successful peer reviews.QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related information technology field. Requires three (3) years of experience (with Master’s) or five (5) years of experience (with Bachelor’s) in the job offered or a related software development role. Prior experience must include three (3) years of experience in/with: one or more modern programming language, such as Java,Scala, Python, GO lang Version control tools like Git; repository tools such as Gitlab and Github. Issue tracking tools like JiraWorking with Linux or other Unix-based operating systems. Prior experience must include two (2) years of experience in/with: SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle; Prior experience must include two (2) years of experience in/with: big data systems such as Hadoop, Spark, or EMR; cloud services including AWS S3, AWS RDS, and EC2.
