About the Role & Team

As part of the theScore team, you will be working with a team of smart, friendly, and dedicated Engineers, Product Managers and Designers determined to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer. The Ecosystem Team is unique at theScore, in that it straddles the line between the betting app and the media app. Imagine being able to research a team’s prior results and stats, build your betslip in theScore app, and then with one tap move over to theScoreBet to place the final bet. We surface betting content within theScore app, and build features that enable users to move seamlessly between the two and maintain context - all with an eye towards growing and retaining our user base.

About the Work

As a key member of our Ecosystem team you will:

• Work with our preferred technology stack of Elixir, Phoenix, and LiveView.  We also maintain some Ruby and Python services that will eventually be migrated over.
• Develop, scale, and optimize amazing GraphQL & RESTful APIs.
• Design interfaces between backend services using kafka and grpc/protobuf.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring and alerting is in place (we’re heavy DataDog users).
• Build internal web tools in Phoenix and LiveView to help other employees visualize and debug our data and systems.
• Participate in the design, architecture, and delivery of new features in a collaborative agile/scrum environment.
• Deploy services and applications to Google GKE & Amazon EKS.
• Mentor other team members to help them level up their technical skills.
• Other duties as required.

About You

• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems, and software design.
• Passionate about clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
• Experience with modern web framework and API development
• Experience with Git and GitHub or similar.
• A strong grasp and experience with relational databases; including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience with background job processing (Oban, Broadway, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, Beanstalk, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Comfortable working in the terminal.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Proficiency within an editor of your choice.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest or equivalent.
• Experience working with monitoring & profiling tools.
• Knowledge and familiarity with caching strategies and tools.
• Experience consuming and integrating with third party APIs.
