About the Role & Team

As part of the theScore team, you will be working with a team of smart, friendly, and dedicated Engineers, Product Managers and Designers working together to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer.  We are looking for engineers for our Platform Core team. This team is focused on building tools and services that allow our backend services to handle a high volume of traffic. Our team is continuously exploring new technologies and providing recommendations to other teams.

About the work

As a Senior Software Developer on the Platform Core team, you will:

  • Design and build foundational components that improve the reliability and scalability of our backend services
  • Build internal tools and libraries to help accelerate other backend teams
  • Collaborate regularly with other teams to ensure what we’re building serves their needs
  • Contribute to improving and evolving software development across the organization
  • Provide mentorship to Junior and Intermediate developers.

 About You

  • A solid background in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems and software design.
  • You are prepared to play a technical leadership role on the team. This position requires an ownership mentality, not just great coding skills.
  • A drive for finding simple solutions to complex problems.
  • Passionate about clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
  • Diligent about delivering well-tested features, including unit and integration tests.
  • You love to keep up to date with technology and sharing what you learn with teammates.
  • Excellent communication skills, including solid technical writing abilities.
  • An interest in designing, building, and optimizing distributed systems.
  • NICE TO HAVE: Experience with functional programming, Kubernetes, Kafka, gRPC, Quarkus.
