theScore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PENN Entertainment , empowers millions of sports fans through its digital media and sports betting products. Its media app ‘theScore’ is one of the most popular in North America, delivering fans highly personalized live scores, news, stats, and betting information from their favorite teams, leagues, and players. theScore’s sports betting app ‘theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino’ delivers an immersive and holistic mobile sports betting and iCasino experience. theScore Bet is currently live in the Company's home province of Ontario. theScore also creates and distributes innovative digital content through its web, social and esports platforms.

About the Role & Team

The Web Platform team’s mission is to provide front end developers an environment that will enable them to create world class web applications. We’ll be solving organization wide engineering problems across three domains: performance, reliability and developer experience. You’ll be working with a group of talented and friendly individuals. We’re also a team that enjoys learning and sharing knowledge. We like to keep our documentation up to date and take time out of our day to learn new technologies. We’d hope that working with our team you’ll help drive our infrastructure to greater heights.

About the Work

As a key member of our Web team you will:

  • Help design, build and iterate on our web infrastructure and tooling.
  • Work with developers across the organization to find pain points and provide solutions that will make the developer experience delightful.
  • Experiment with new technologies that will decrease our build or CI times.
  • Participate in the design, architecture, and delivery of new features in a collaborative agile/scrum environment.
  • Improve feedback loops around accessibility, performance, visual regression and error monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the team to define and improve our internal style guide, maintainability and best practices for web applications.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior and Intermediate developers.

About You

  • A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms and software design.
  • Experience with frontend technologies (TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Jest, e2e testing, build tools).
  • You pay attention to the details.
  • You think deeply about systems and can debug problems that span systems.
  • You’re a curious person who loves to deep dive into the internals of different libraries.
  • You love to keep up to date with web technologies and sharing what you learn with teammates.
  • You’re a great communicator, both verbal and written.
