The Software Platform group focuses on building technology that enables rapid user growth worldwide and accelerates product development across our entire software organization, while ensuring stability, security, and compliance. We handle massive amounts of data continuously streaming up to the cloud from everyday people improving their health and wellness to the world's greatest sports teams and athletes. The team builds shared services and custom tooling that enables our developers to deliver value to those customers, while also maintaining and improving critical infrastructure like Kubernetes and Kafka.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will be building and directly supporting some of the most critical tools and pieces of infrastructure within the software organization. You will help set the direction of Platform to empower WHOOP to grow to the next level, with an essential focus on security, scalability, and reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that support our core infrastructure and member experience.Shape and develop best practices for software development at WHOOP.Collaborate across software and product teams driving mission-critical initiatives.Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and collaborative innovationQUALIFICATIONS:Interest in scaling applications, infrastructure, and products worldwide.Experience gathering feedback from multiple stakeholders and prioritizing work to maximize business impact.Deep expertise in backend development, with a strong foundation in object-oriented programming, API design, and relational databases (RESTful APIs, Postgres)Experience working with distributed systems.Experience working with AWS services and environments.Skillset to develop and mentor best practices in software development.Enthusiasm for the latest and greatest tools and technologies to bring about speed and efficiency to product developmentFamiliarity with cybersecurity principles, including data privacy, authentication, and authorization, is plus but not requiredLearn more about our Software Org and how to be successful in your engineering career at WHOOP via our Career Framework.
This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
