Scopely Explore (formerly known as Niantic), creator of hit games including Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now is seeking a Client Engineer to help shape the future of our games by building high-quality, scalable gameplay systems that delight and engage our passionate players. We're a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team of game makers, software developers, and creative professionals based all over the world. In this role, you will lead the technical design and implementation of cross-platform mobile experiences, driving performance, reliability, and engineering excellence — living up to our ambitious vision of merging the virtual with the real world and inspiring people to explore together!

What You Will Do

• Lead the technical design and implementation of engaging, scalable gameplay systems for a large and active user base.
• Own cross-platform development across mobile (iOS/Android), ensuring code is reusable, maintainable, and performant across multiple environments.
• Drive performance optimization and reliability, including profiling, debugging, and troubleshooting complex issues on mobile devices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, game designers, and UX designers to deliver high-quality user experiences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to engineering excellence, including improving development processes, testing practices, and overall code quality.
• Required in-office 3 days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

What you will need

• BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in game development, with strong expertise in Unity and/or other game engines.
• Proficient working in C# or C++.
• Embraces generative AI with curiosity and good judgment, using it responsibly to improve tooling, testing, debugging, prototyping, and overall product quality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice. 
• Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others.
• Japanese language skills (intermediate - Business level)

• Experience with shader programming (e.g., GLSL, HLSL, Metal).

職務内容(What you will do)

• 大規模かつアクティブなユーザーベースに向けた、魅力的でスケーラブルなゲームプレイシステムの技術設計と実装をリードする
• モバイル(iOS/Android)におけるクロスプラットフォーム開発を担い、複数の環境で再利用性・保守性・パフォーマンスに優れたコードを実現する
• プロファイリング、デバッグ、複雑な問題のトラブルシューティングを含む、パフォーマンス最適化と信頼性向上を推進する
• エンジニア、プロダクトマネージャー、ゲームデザイナー、UXデザイナーと部門を横断して連携し、高品質なユーザー体験を実現する
• コードレビュー、設計レビュー、知識共有を通じて、他のエンジニアに対する技術的リーダーシップとメンタリングを提供する
• 開発プロセス、テスト手法、コード品質全体の改善など、エンジニアリングの卓越性向上に貢献する
• 勤務形態：火・水・木の週3日を出社勤務とするハイブリッド勤務 (詳細な勤務条件は雇用契約書・就業規則に基づきます)

応募資格(What you will need)

• コンピューターサイエンスまたは関連する技術分野の学士号相当の知識・経験 (実務経験による同等の知識・スキルも可)
• ゲーム開発における5年以上の実務経験があり、Unityおよび/またはその他のゲームエンジンに関する高い専門性を有すること
• C#またはC++を用いた開発経験
• 生成AIに対して探究心と適切な判断力を持ち、ツール開発・テスト・デバッグ・プロトタイピングおよびプロダクト品質向上のために責任を持って活用できること
• 変化の速い環境下でも適切に業務を遂行できる適応力、または予告の少ない状況変化にも柔軟に対応し、実践的な問題解決を行える能力
• 部門を横断したチームでの協働経験があり、口頭・文書双方で効果的にコミュニケーションを取れること(同時双方向のやり取りを含む)
