The Senior Technical Artist is an expert in their field and holds a wealth of knowledge in dealing with the technical issues around content creation for video games. The Senior Technical Artist will produce work that is at the highest level of quality and difficulty and have a proven track record of resolving the most complex and broad reaching challenges in relationship to content construction, pipeline management and cutting-edge visuals.

This is a future-facing role, in addition to current best practices and competitive awareness, the Senior Technical Artist is expected to understand emerging trends and technologies in video game content and make strategic recommendations as to how they may benefit and/or impact project development.

The Senior Technical Artist makes critical contributions to key initiatives and projects and participates in setting product vision within the studio. Areas the Technical Artist is responsible for include visual R&D, performance monitoring, authoring content for in-game use, as well as tool and pipeline development.

A Senior Technical Artist for Electric Square:

  • Collaborate with a skilled team to create photorealistic shaders for AAA console environments, characters, props, and VFX.
  • Creatively solve technical challenges and limitations to maximise cutting edge visuals for present-gen console hardware.
  • Collaborate with the art team to ensure their efficiency and advice on any technical issues that arise. Help them communicate their technical needs to the development team.
  • Assist in driving the creation of complex procedural and physically based content.

Requirements

  • Programming languages: C#, Python, MAXScript, MEL, HLSL, PowerShell, Bash
  • Skills: Pipeline Development, Optimisation, VFX, Shaders, Lighting, Tool Development
  • Software/Tools: Unreal Engine, Unity, Houdini, 3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Perforce

This role is for a Freelance / Fixed Term Contract that ends at the end of January 2025
