Job Description

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

The People, Places, and Systems Team at Roblox focuses on creating a sustained competitive advantage by evolving what we do in the people space (culture, leadership practices, organization, programs, etc.) into a thoughtful, integrated, low-friction "people operating system". We want to inspire people at Roblox to take on challenging problems and allow them to find unique solutions while providing what is needed to accelerate their development, and one of the systems that the People team relies on most is its Compensation System.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Workday Compensation Engineer with a deep specialization in Workday Compensation. In this role, you won’t just be "maintaining" a system; you will be the architect behind our global total rewards strategy. You will bridge the gap between complex HR policy and technical execution, ensuring our compensation cycles, merit plans, and incentive structures run with surgical precision.

In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager of the HR Systems team.

You will:

  • Architect & Configure: Lead the design, configuration, and testing of Workday Compensation modules, including Base Pay, Merit Plans, Bonus Plans, Grade Profiles, and Multi-Currency setups.
  • Cycle Management: Own the end-to-end technical execution of the Quarterly Compensation Review process, including focal reviews, promotions, and equity adjustments.
  • Advanced Tooling: Build and maintain complex Calculated Fields, Custom Reports, and Dashboards to provide leadership with real-time insights into compensation spend and equity.
  • Process Optimization: Partner with the Total Rewards team to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, focusing on automation and user experience.
  • Integrations & Security: Collaborate with the integrations team on EIBs and Studio builds; manage domain security policies specifically for sensitive compensation data.
  • Mentorship: Act as a technical escalation point for Junior Analysts and Engineers, providing peer reviews and best-practice guidance.

You have:

  • Workday Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on HCM experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to the architecture and deployment of Advanced Compensation.
  • Configuration Mastery: Proven track record of engineering complex Eligibility Rules, Compensation Matrices, and multi-step Business Processes (BPs).
  • Data Fluency: Expert-level proficiency in Workday Report Writer and Calculated Fields; hands-on experience with BIRT is highly preferred.
  • Systems Integration: Deep understanding of EIB frameworks and the technical flow of sensitive compensation data to payroll and downstream financial systems.
  • Data Integrity: A meticulous eye for detail with an unwavering commitment to data quality, ensuring 100% accuracy in high-stakes reporting and documentation.
  • Strategic Communication: Ability to translate intricate technical logic into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at every level of the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Proven ability to drive results through "influence without authority," forging credible partnerships across HR, Finance, and IT.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong project management foundation with a bias for action and a relentless focus on automating and scaling Workday processes.

You are:

  • Curious: You don’t just "close tickets"—you hunt for the "why." You have a sharp eye for distinguishing between a technical system limitation and an underlying process inefficiency.
  • Architectural Problem-Solver: You find genuine satisfaction in the "solve," whether it’s untangling a botched merit cycle or engineering an elegant solution for a complex calculated field.
  • The Technical Translator: You can articulate "Weighted Average" logic or "Pro-ration Rules" to non-technical HR partners with clarity, ensuring everyone is aligned without the jargon.
  • Data-Driven Collaborator: You lead with evidence and empathy, successfully bringing stakeholders on the journey while consistently delivering measurable business results.
  • Global Navigator: You thrive in high-velocity, global environments, moving with ease through ambiguity to solve challenging problems across diverse time zones and cultures.
  • Agile Prototyper: You are resourceful and rapid; you prefer to build, pilot, and iterate on solutions rather than waiting for a perfect manual, ensuring the system evolves at the speed of the business.
  • Systems Thinker: You excel at designing scalable operational frameworks and "future-proof" processes that empower high-performing teams to do their best work.
