WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH The Activity Apps team builds and operates Nike Run Club (NRC) and Nike Training Club (NTC) - the mobile experiences that move millions of Nike athletes through runs, workouts, training plans, and guided coaching every day. As a Software Engineer 2 on Android, you'll be a growing IC on a feature squad, partnering daily with senior Android engineers, iOS peers, backend engineers, Product, Design, and QA. The ideal candidate cares about craft, moves fast without cutting corners, and is curious about how the app actually behaves in an athlete's hand. WHAT YOU BRING 2+ years of professional Android development experience shipping consumer- facing apps Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training Proficiency in Kotlin, including Coroutines and Flow; working knowledge of the modern Android stack (Jetpack Compose, Hilt/Dagger, Room, WorkManager, Navigation) Understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI) and how features are structured in a multi-module codebase Familiarity with the Android systems activity apps rely on - location, sensors, foreground services, lifecycle, audio focus, push - and willingness to go deep in the areas you own Comfort consuming REST/GraphQL APIs and handling offline, low-bandwidth, and error states gracefully Experience writing unit and UI tests (JUnit, Compose UI tests, Espresso) Familiarity with Gradle, CI/CD, and the Google Play release process Strong debugging habits and an interest in growing them - profiling, memory analysis, ANR/crash triage Collaborative mindset; clear communicator in code review, design discussion, and written docs Experience with Spec Driven
