We’re looking for a Software Engineer II to play a critical role in evolving the Enterprise platform; building core systems, shaping technical direction, and laying the foundation for a scalable enterprise product.

This is a high-ownership role with meaningful autonomy.

You’ll operate in a product-ambiguous environment, help define what “great” looks like, and partner closely with design, stakeholders, and leadership as the platform takes its next step forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• </b></br><div>
• <li>
• Own and evolve foundational systems for WHOOP Enterprise, starting with Enterprise APIs, authentication, and account management
• </li>
• <li>
• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support enterprise use cases and external integrations
• </li>
• <li>
• Collaborate closely with design, analytics, and engineering partners to translate ambiguous product needs into scalable technical solutions
• </li>
• <li>
• Define and influence technical direction, system architecture, and implementation standards for the Enterprise platform
• </li>
• <li>
• Build systems with a strong emphasis on security, privacy, reliability, and correctness, appropriate for enterprise customers
• </li>
• <li>
• Develop and maintain observability, monitoring, and operational practices to ensure system stability
• </li>
• <li>
• Consistently deliver high-quality, well-tested code following best practices in software design and development
• </li>
• <li>
• Help establish engineering foundations that scale, including documentation, patterns, and mentorship as the team grows
• </li>

QUALIFICATIONS

• </b></br><div>
• <li>
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in backend development
• </li>
• <li>
• Experience building and owning production backend systems and RESTful APIs (Java preferred)
• </li>
• <li>
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and identity or account management concepts
• </li>
• <li>
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• </li>
• <li>
• Experience designing and operating services in cloud environments (AWS)
• </li>
• <li>
• Comfort working across the stack, including contributing to web applications leveraging AI tools (e.g., React), even if backend is your primary strength
• </li>
• <li>
• Strong system design skills, with experience building scalable, reliable, and maintainable software
• </li>
• <li>
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments with minimal product process
• </li>
• <li>
• Strong independent problem-solving skills and a sense of ownership over outcomes
• </li>
• <li>
• Clear communicator who collaborates well across disciplines and can articulate technical tradeoffs
• </li>
• <li>
• Builder mindset with interest in helping shape and scale a platform and team over time

• <div><em style="font-size: 11pt;">The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000 - $215,000.
• Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
• Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.&nbsp;</em></div>
