THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly-skilled and detail-oriented Specialist, Lab Chemist (QC) to join our growing Quality team in Ogden, Utah at AG1’s QC lab facility. Reporting to the QC Lab Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of AG1’s products through rigorous chemical analysis and testing on a variety of dietary supplement and ingredient substances, including raw ingredients, finished products, and stability samples. The successful candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This role will collaborate closely with other lab technicians, offering chemical expertise and guidance to the team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support in the creating and development of new and existing testing methods.
- Conduct required chemical analytical testing for all samples submitted to the laboratory as indicated in AG1’s ingredient specifications, or as requested, using official documented test methods.
- Maintain full traceability of analysis, including documenting all testing and related activities by means of lab notebooks, reports, logbooks, etc.
- Proficiently operate a variety of instrumentation and lab equipment including ICP/MS, LC/MS, FTIR, HPTLC, lab hoods, balances, pipettes, and glassware to ensure accurate testing procedures.
- Accurately interpret and report test data as indicated in AG1’s ingredient specifications, ensuring consistency and reliability.
- Perform Out-of-Specification Investigations as needed, following established protocols and documentation procedures.
- Develop new test methods and troubleshoot existing methods for continuous improvement.
- Pursue projects for the expansion and continuous improvement of lab capabilities at the direction of the Lab Manager.
- Communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams including RNI and the AG1 Product Development Lab.
- Performs method validations and instrument maintenance/qualifications.
- Maintain a steady and adequate pace of testing to deliver test results in a timely manner.
- Handle and prepare reagents, solvents, and solutions, while maintaining a precise and accurate chemical inventory.
- Uphold cleanliness and organization within the lab and work areas, ensuring that all equipment is properly clean, stored, calibrated and maintained for optimal performance.
- Assist in the organization and management of raw material inventory, including proper storage and labeling of materials.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5-8 years of chemical analytical lab experience, preferably in the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical fields.
- B.S. Degree in Chemistry or a related physical science field required.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and equipment operation, showcasing the ability to effectively utilize instrumentation and conduct analytical testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability in testing procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, facilitating collaboration with colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies in analytical chemistry and quality assurance.
- Dedication to maintaining a safe and clean work environment, prioritizing the well-being of oneself and others in accordance with established safety protocols and regulations.
The Chemist will work in a laboratory setting, with regular exposure to chemicals, raw materials and ingredients used in quality control. The position may require occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as necessary to ensure safety.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $69,000 - $86,500 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is only one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
