Senior Software Engineer - Backend DevOps

Full-Time (Note if position is full-time or otherwise)

Austin, TX - 4 days per week in our Central Austin office, Fridays remote

The Role: 

We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer - Backend DevOps who is excited to help us scale and productionize our applications as we grow in all areas of our business. This team member must be experienced in proper infrastructure logging, metric-gathering, and developer experience, as well as understand how applications and infrastructure influence one another. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of executives, developers, and automation and data engineers to ensure application scaling, uptime, and API quality.

This role is perfect for a creative problem solver who enjoys duality of work projects and being a hands-on team member. You’ll get to write solid backend API code while also improving infrastructure as our DevOps needs evolve. What you’ll do:

• Constantly work to improve software uptime and reliability as well as associated metrics
• Implement best practices for infrastructure scaling in AWS
• Implement best practices for CICD
• Backend development to create and improve API systems integrations to and from the database, data orchestrator, and other 3rd party systems 
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in platform engineering and API development 

Experience we’re seeking:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years proven experience as a Software Engineer, developing web applications using AWS CDK (a bonus if CDK+ CDK8S)
• Experienced in Typescript as it relates to DevOps ownership of Github Actions
• Deep expertise in Modern Python with Typehints
• Well versed in REST APIs (or GraphQL) using OpenAPI/Swagger
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure (a bonus if familiar with ECS Fargate, Aurora, Route53, S3)
• Understanding of metrics related to alerting and scaling
• Prior implementation experience of monitoring software or relevant knowledge
• Desire to be at an early stage company where duties include writing tickets and documentation
• Hands-on collaborator with strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
