Position Overview
We’re building a best-in-class accounting function and looking for a Staff or Sr Accountant to join the DP team! This role will own day-to-day accounting operations including AR, AP, transaction coding, payroll processing, sales tax filings, journal entries, and BS reconciliations; it will support a tight month-end close and contribute to ERP and accounting tool implementations. Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Coding: code AP invoices, cash transactions, credit card purchases, and employee reimbursements to the appropriate entity, GL, and cost center.
- Accounts Payable & Vendor Management: own the accounting/AP inbox, process vendor bills, create and maintain vendor master, maintain AP aging, own 1099 administration, and communicate with the business and vendors as needed.
- Payroll Processing: process payroll on bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis, support W-2 distribution and state registrations for new hires.
- Sales Tax: prepare and file sales tax returns on time and maintain audit-ready records.
- Accounts Receivable: issue invoices to customers with correct terms, apply cash, maintain AR aging, and own collection efforts.
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations: prepare journal entries, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and maintain close checklist.
- Systems and Integrations: participate in requirements gathering, data validation, user acceptance testing,and go-live support for ERP implementation; participate as needed in cross-functional tool implementations with impacts to accounting processes and systems.
- Continuous Improvement: improve templates, create and maintain SOPs, and raise red flags proactively; identify issues, ask clarifying questions, and propose fixes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in accounting; 1-2 years in-house at high growth companies and/or top accounting firm preferred; multi-entity, sports, and/or entertainment industry experience a plus.
- Education/credentials: accounting degree or working experience equivalent; CPA preferred but not required.
- Core skills: critical thinking and healthy skepticism, time management and multi-tasking across various responsibilities, strong attention to detail and documentation.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Resourceful: organized and efficient team player who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
- Communication: strong cross-functional communicator who interacts effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Highest Standards: operates with accuracy and precision; expert with Excel and comfortable drafting PowerPoints for executive-level presentations.
- Results-oriented: gritty, with high ethical standards.
- Tools: must be efficient in Excel; QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, D365, Gusto, Ramp, FloQast, and/or Google Workspace experience a plus.
