THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Staff Analytics Engineering Lead to our Data Delivery team in Brazil! This is a Remote – Brazil position, meaning you can work from anywhere within the country. Please note that this role is only open to candidates in Brazil.

As a Staff Analytics Engineer Lead in the Data Delivery team, you'll play a critical role in scaling our data capabilities and driving our ambitious Data Democratization movement. You won't just help build pipelines; you'll be a key driver in shaping how we build, govern, and distribute data across a microservice-driven architecture. We own the data exploration layers, transforming raw data into structured, easy-to-consume, domain-driven datasets that power corporate analytics, reverse ETL, and self-service exploration across the company.

Your work will directly influence the success of our data-driven culture by:

  • Leading key initiatives for the Data Delivery team, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring alignment between technical execution and company-wide data strategy.
  • Driving the Shift Left movement by collaboratively defining the patterns, standards, and tools that enable microservice teams (Data Producers) to expose high-quality, consumable data with robust data contracts.
  • Architecting and championing robust data models within our data warehouse (Medallion Architecture) ensuring data consistency and adherence to our central data concepts, significantly enhancing the reliability of company-wide reporting and analysis.
  • Empowering the distributed Data Chapter (embedded analysts) by providing them with the highest-quality, most discoverable datasets necessary for their business and product insights.

YOUR IMPACT

Initiative & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage cross-functional data initiatives, establishing clear roadmaps, managing dependencies, and communicating progress and risks to senior stakeholders across the Business Units and Product Tech Unit.
  • Act as a technical product owner for data assets within your assigned domains, gathering complex requirements from the Global Analytics, Product and Business teams, translating them into actionable data delivery plans.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Platform and Data Solutions teams to ensure the transformation and tooling capabilities (e.g., Trino, Airflow, OpenMetadata) align with our delivery needs.
  • Live the mission: inspire and empower others by genuinely caring for your own wellbeing and your colleagues. Bring wellbeing to the forefront of work, and create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable taking care of themselves, taking time off, and finding work-life wellness

Technical Design & Delivery

  • Design and maintain scalable, high-integrity data models (e.g., dimensional, facts, and aggregated marts) within our domain-driven data warehouse that are optimized for both Trino performance and self-service analytics.
  • Develop robust, test-driven ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL in our Airflow environment to transform raw, distributed microservice data into gold-standard domain datasets.
  • Champion and enforce our data governance practices, ensuring data models and transformations enforce correspondence with formal company-wide data concepts and quality standards.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance on best practices in data modeling and pipeline development to other engineers in the Data Delivery team.

Who You Are

You're an experienced Data and/or Analytics Engineer with a proven track record of moving beyond coding to manage complex data projects and influence technical direction

  • You have successfully led and delivered large-scale data and analytics engineering initiatives in a distributed data environment.
  • You possess a deep and practical understanding of data modeling principles (dimensional modeling, medallion architecture, domain-driven design, etc.) and can design structures that balance flexibility, consistency, and query performance.
  • You are a highly effective communicator, able to engage engineering, product, and senior management stakeholders to align on requirements, contracts, and data solutions.
  • You are comfortable with the challenges of a hub-and-spoke operating model, capable of advocating for central consistency while supporting distributed data ownership.

Competencies Required

  • Expert proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation and pipeline construction.
  • Proven expertise in designing and optimizing Data Warehouse or Lakehouse data models.
  • Strong understanding of distributed query engines (e.g., Trino/Presto) and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or similar platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of data governance, data quality checks (e.g., Great Expectations), and ensuring semantic consistency across data domains.
  • Strong communication with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Roadmap, task management and prioritization
  • Familiarity with data cataloging and discovery tools such as OpenMetadata.
  • Previous experience with, or involvement in, an organizational transformation towards a Shift Left or Data Mesh approach will accelerate success.

We recognize that individuals approach job applications differently. We strongly encourage all aspiring applicants to go for it, even if they don't match the job description 100%. We welcome your application and will be delighted to explore if you could be a great fit for our team. For this specific role, please note that prior experience with SQL and Python for data transformation and pipeline construction are mandatory requirements.
