The role is accountable for the safe and effective provision of pharmacy services in accordance with the Medicines Act 1968, Responsible Pharmacist Regulations, and GPhC standards.
This role provides professional and regulatory oversight of all pharmacy dispensing and compounding activities, premises, and operational systems to ensure patient safety, product quality, and full regulatory compliance at all times.
This is an onsite role based in our London office
Act as the Responsible Pharmacist in line with UK legislation and GPhC guidance
Establish and maintain effective control of pharmacy activities while acting as RP
Use professional judgement to manage risks where patient safety or legal compliance may be compromised
Ensure compliance with:
GPhC Standards for Registered Pharmacies and Pharmacy Professionals
Medicines Act 1968 and Responsible Pharmacist Regulations
Human Medicines Regulations 2012
Ensure SOPs are Current, approved, and version-controlled and followed.
Maintain inspection readiness, including documentation, records, and audit trails
Provide professional oversight of compounding activities
Ensure compounded medicines are prepared, checked, labelled, stored, and supplied in accordance with approved SOPs
Ensure complete and compliant formulation records and batch documentation, environmental, equipment, and material controls
Ensure appropriate segregation, traceability, and labelling standards are set and followed
Verify that compounding activities remain within the pharmacy’s authorised scope
Provide oversight and supervision of pharmacy practice
Ensure staff are appropriately trained and competent and working within their scope of practice
Address practice deviations, errors, or performance concerns promptly and appropriately
Promote a strong culture of patient safety and quality
Ensure incidents, near misses, and complaints are recorded, investigated, and escalated appropriately, managed with corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), support continuous improvement initiatives and quality reviews
Communication & Escalation
Communicate clearly with pharmacy leadership, quality, and clinical teams
Liaise with the legal team, regulators and inspectors as required
Escalate significant risks, incidents, or compliance issues without delay
A Pharmacist registered and in good standing with the GPhC
8+ years experience as a pharmacist, 5 or more as a Superintendent Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager
Eligible and willing to act as Responsible Pharmacist under UK legislation
Demonstrated understanding of RP accountability and decision-making authority
Confident operating in SOP-driven, regulated environments
Calm, decisive, and safety-focused
Experience in compounding pharmacy (non-sterile) or pharmaceutical manufacturing in a GMP setting
Familiarity with quality management systems and audit processes
Experience in mail-order, digital health, or scaling pharmacy operations
