THE ROLE:
We are looking for a strong individual who thrives under pressure and can lead the broadcast engineering support team during live events. This individual will oversee the scheduling for the Tier 2 support team and ensure all support needs are covered. They will also oversee high-profile events, whether they occur in the middle of the weekend or late in the evening, and be ready to act if issues arise. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining the streaming playbook, as it is the main tool for the broadcast engineering team. Lastly, they will provide constructive feedback to broadcast engineers and collaborate with the team and stream quality analyst to identify root causes during post-mortems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and manage shift scheduling for the Tier 2 support team
Responsible for Tier 2 support on live events during high profile events and/or to fill in have shifts covered if needed
Provide constructive feedback to Broadcast Engineer - Level 1s
Maintain and oversee the streaming playbook, as a tool for both broadcast engineers and senior broadcast engineers
Collaborate with Broadcast Engineers to identify root causes during post mortems
Collaborate with Stream Ops/Bdcst Eng on improving day-to-day processes
Collaborate with feed partners to facilitate testing and ensure quality control
Work closely with Live Production and Engineering teams to enhance event execution
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1+ year of leading teams during shifts for live support
1+ year of stream technician on-site/remote
2+ years of NOC, Stream Engineering or Broadcast Engineering
1+ year of live production on-site (Produce, Direct, TD, GFX Op, EVS, etc)
Hands-on experience with TVU, Videon, Elemental, Epiphan, Haivision
Hands-on experience with Cellular bonding solutions such as Peplink and Teltonica
AWS SysOps Admin Certification
Network+ Certified or CCNA
Scheduling management with tools such as Rootly, Salesforce and Domo
Low scale Automation, Root Cause Analysis and Advanced networking knowledge
Advanced understanding of streaming protocols (RTMP, SRT, RTP, WebRTC, Zixi)
Advanced understanding of encoding softwares (vMix, OBS, Tricaster, etc)
Advanced understanding of encoding hardware (TVU, Videon, Haivision, etc)
Advanced understanding of analog and digital signal flows
Advanced understanding on Zixi/ZEN Master
Advanced understanding of CDNs (Fastly, Cloudflare, Akamai, Cloudfront)
Advanced understanding on AWS services (Medialive, Mediatailor, MediaStore, S3, EC2)
Advanced skills in alerting/monitoring tools such as NPAW YouBora, Orion, DataDog, ZEN Master, Touchstream
Advanced skills in operational tools such as Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, Gsuite, VOiP, Domo
Mentorship with other team members, good listener
Ability to communicate highly technical problems to business stakeholders
Process-driven and detail-oriented, highly skilled in analysis diagnosis
Time-conscious, adaptable to last-minute changes
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
