We are seeking a Senior Technical Artist with expertise in optimizing lighting, materials, and performance for mobile and desktop platforms. This role involves resolving art technical issues, collaborating with programmers, and supporting performance evaluations.
Tech Lead (Shanghai)
Optimize Lighting and Materials: Enhance lighting and materials for a wide range of platforms, but primarily mobile.
Special Material Development: Develop and troubleshoot special materials.
Performance Optimization: Profile and conduct general optimizations to maintain performance and visual quality across different platforms and graphics APIs (OpenGL/Metal/Vulkan).
Technical Problem Solving: Resolve technical issues within the editor and builds.
Collaborate with Programmers and Artists: Ensure technical solutions meet performance and artistic needs.
Review and evaluate Niagara and special effects performance and troubleshoot graphics issues across different devices.
Set up automation for performance
Establish device scalability with device profiles, texture groups, and memory budgets.
Facilitate communication between Tech and Art departments, often in different time zones.
Design and optimize the rendering pipeline for mobile platforms.
Develop and maintain complex materials and shaders, considering scalability, performance, maintenance, and documentation.
Conduct performance analysis and adjustments.
5+ years in the gaming industry with at least 3+ years in mobile game development using Unreal Engine.
Proficiency with Unreal Engine's material editor, blueprint system, and shader languages (HLSL/GLSL).
Experience with PBR, lighting optimization, and performance analysis on mobile platforms.
Strong collaboration and communication skills in both Chinese and English
Experience with Unreal Engine’s post-processing effects and performance profiling.
Writing plugins or custom tools for Unreal Engine or DCCs with Python or Editor Utility Blueprints.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).
Experience in AAA mobile game development.
C++ knowledge is a plus
