At the start of 2017, WTA Media launched the production and distribution of over 2000 live tennis matches for the WTA over the course of a season. The production team organise, produce and deliver over 30 Host Broadcast tournaments and manage the World Feed output and delivery of over 20 Non-Host Broadcast tournaments to Broadcast partners across the globe.

With 33 Host Broadcast tournaments expected in 2024 plus new delivery and live data technical workflows coming into the operation, WTA Media’s Technical Operation Manager will be responsible for managing all the technical elements and logistics of WTA Media’s on-site live broadcast production as well as broadcast workflows at DAZN.

The role requires a balancing act in managing technical processes for the team and using technical skills to provide the necessary environment for project success as well as managing the production workflows, and client facing with tournaments and the WTA. The Technical Operation Manager works closely alongside the Senior Technical Operation Manager to make sure the production standards are met.

You will be the glue between WTA, the tournament, the facilities provider, the distribution provider, graphics and data.
 
This role requires travel as you will be based on-site at the international tournaments 100+ days a year.

As our new Technical Operation Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Providing the production team with technical advice and support on a daily basis.
  • Overseeing each Host Broadcast production from planning to completion, with an emphasis on technical soundness, high production values, partner collaboration and client support.
  • Developing and revising statements of work and production schematics which should include accurate time and cost estimates.
  • Working closely with the Production Management team in pre-tournament planning and ensuring that budgets are always adhered to.
  • Direct liaison with Tournament Directors and their representatives in the planning stages and on-site at events.
  • Attendance at any required site surveys – de-briefs and site reports to be compiled and distributed post survey.
  • Required collaboration with the content team to refine and evaluate technical requirements and workflow strategies for content needs across the business.
  • Constant ongoing requirement to research and propose new technologies to be used in Production and take the product onto the next level.

  • You’ll be set up for success if you have:
  • Strong understanding of different power standards single and three phases.
  • Strong knowledge of the basics of networking i.e. IP protocols, Subnets, Vlan, etc.
  • Working knowledge and experience with audio/video formats and compressions
  • Live Production/Broadcast on-site experience on OB or Flypack
  • Live production understanding
  • Experience working with a production facilities provider
  • Background in working on live sporting events
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Used to work under pressure, excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills, great attention to detail
