Our mission: to eliminate every barrier to mental health.

At Spring Health, we’re on a mission to revolutionize mental healthcare by removing every barrier that prevents people from getting the help they need, when they need it. Our clinically validated technology, Precision Mental Healthcare, empowers us to deliver the right care at the right time—whether it’s therapy, coaching, medication, or beyond—tailored to each individual’s needs.

We proudly partner with over 450 companies, from startups to multinational Fortune 500 corporations, as a leading provider of mental health service, providing care for 10 million people. Our clients include brands you use and know like Microsoft, Target, and Delta Airlines, all of whom trust us to deliver best-in-class outcomes for their employees globally. With our innovative platform, we’ve been able to generate a net positive ROI for employers and we are the only company in our category to earn external validation of net savings for customers.

We have raised capital from prominent investors including Generation Investment, Kinnevik, Tiger Global, Northzone, RRE Ventures, and many more. Thanks to their partnership and our latest Series E Funding, our current valuation has reached $3.3 billion. We’re just getting started—join us on our journey to make mental healthcare accessible to everyone, everywhere.

We are seeking a Technology Strategy & Operations Senior Manager (Temporary) to lead technology strategy execution and engineering operations across our organization on a six month temporary basis, with the possibility of extension based on business need.. This role is highly cross-functional and impact-driven, with an initial focus on establishing engineering excellence through data-driven insights, standardized metrics, and scalable operating practices. The Sr. EM will partner closely with Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and technical leadership to improve delivery predictability, release confidence, and overall developer experience.

Please note that this is a hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York City, with an expectation to be in office 2-3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Metrics & Insights

  • Deeply analyze and understand existing Developer Experience (DX) and engineering performance metrics.
  • Establish baseline squad-level metrics across delivery, quality, reliability, and operational health.
  • Define and implement standardized engineering metrics and dashboards across all squads to enable consistent measurement and transparency.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to ensure metrics are actionable and aligned with business outcomes rather than vanity indicators.

Engineering Operating Model & Cadence

  • Review the current engineering operating cadence, including planning, execution, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Identify inefficiencies and streamline processes to improve flow, reduce overhead, and increase team autonomy.
  • Define and operationalize consistent rhythms (e.g., sprint ceremonies, quarterly planning, operational reviews) while allowing for squad-level flexibility where appropriate.

CI/CD, Quality & Release Confidence

  • Assess the current CI/CD pipelines, QA practices, and test automation coverage across teams.
  • Identify gaps and risks impacting release quality, velocity, and confidence.
  • Create and execute a roadmap for high-confidence releases, including improvements to automation, testing strategies, and deployment practices.
  • Partner with platform, QA, and product teams to drive adoption of best practices and tooling.

Automation & Operational Excellence

  • Identify opportunities for automation across engineering workflows to reduce manual effort and operational toil.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that improve developer productivity and system reliability.
  • Ensure operational practices scale effectively as the organization grows.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Spend significant time initially partnering with Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers to build trust, understand pain points, and co-create solutions.
  • Act as a thought partner and coach to technical leaders on metrics, operational rigor, and execution excellence.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with senior leadership on findings, progress, and impact.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in an Engineering Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Strong background in engineering operations, delivery metrics, and technology execution at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, QA strategies, test automation, and modern deployment practices.
  • Proven ability to define metrics, analyze data, and drive meaningful change based on insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across engineering and leadership levels.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where it does not yet exist.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clear, standardized engineering metrics are adopted and trusted across all squads.
  • Engineering operating rhythms are streamlined, consistent, and enable faster, more predictable delivery.
  • CI/CD, QA, and automation improvements result in measurably higher release confidence and reduced defects.
  • Engineering teams experience improved developer experience and reduced operational friction.
