Improbable is a Venture Builder. We are working with leaders to create businesses in AI transformation, the metaverse and web3. We both create businesses from scratch and invest in existing businesses. Our central services teams work with ventures to help them achieve success; including early stage prototyping and initial product development where this role sits.
Your Mission:
As a TechOps & Security Engineer you will work to ensure high quality maintenance of systems and related BAU work, and 3rd level support of internal applications and integrations with third-party systems. You will help support security activities across the business. Your strong data analytics skills and organisational capacity will help ensure that we have a good understanding of where risk is in our system. You will support security assurance activities such as audits through diligent work to identify sources of information and working to ensure these are meaningful to others and meet set requirements. You'll be responsible for incident response, threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, security monitoring, and assist in developing and implementing security policies.
Your Opportunity:
Oversee the daily operations & maintenance of our security platforms, including deployment & management of anti-virus, cloud & email security as well as reviewing and responding to our SIEM solution.
Implement relevant security controls to support the business’s needs and assess risks associated with business requests.
Conduct company-wide security audits, in accordance with ISO27001 standards.
Collaborate with support teams, making necessary adjustments to systems to improve their ability to provide effective support.
Contribute to DevOps-related tasks, including Infrastructure as Code (IAC) management using Terraform, managing Kubernetes deployments and assisting other teams as required.
Serve as a third-line escalation point for support teams, investigating and resolving issues raised by users.
Continuously improve processes and systems, contributing to documentation and maintaining the TechOps inventory.
Take responsibility for key internal services such as Arceus, brevi.link, GroupSync, Larry, Leclerc, and Workspace Sync.
Provide third-line support for other internal applications and third-party system integrations.
Why You’re Made for This:
You are familiar working with languages like Go (primarily), supported by Python, PowerShell, Bash.
Experience with cloud platforms, in particular Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & Microsoft Azure.
You’re comfortable working with tools like Intune, Puppet, MDM, Slack (including Webhooks and Apps), JIRA, and general SaaS integrations.
You’re passionate about learning, sharing knowledge, and supporting the development of junior team members.
You approach problem-solving pragmatically and are not afraid to experiment to find solutions.
You are proactive, self-sufficient, and capable of taking the initiative while knowing when to ask for help when needed.
This role is available as hybrid working. We have a great office space in Spitalfields in London but are equally happy if you'd prefer to work from home 1-2 times a week. We are 'Flexa' certified, meaning our entire employee experience is anchored around flexibility and autonomy.
