**Job Description**

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Unix/VMware L1 Administrator with 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience to join our Bengaluru-based infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, and maintenance of our Linux and VMware environments. This role involves providing first-level support, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to the stability and efficiency of our systems as we embrace a hybrid cloud model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 support for Linux (CentOS, Alma, Ubuntu) and Windows Server operating systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machine workloads.

  • Create, manage, and maintain virtual machines, including cloning, creating templates, and deploying VMs from images.

  • Conduct initial diagnostics and follow established procedures for troubleshooting and resolving server and VM-related incidents.

  • Assist in the preparation and validation of migration workbooks for server migrations.

  • Perform P2V (Physical to Virtual) conversions using VMware vCenter Converter.

  • Monitor system performance and ensure the stability and integrity of the virtual and physical server infrastructure.

  • Maintain and update technical documentation for diagnostic procedures, troubleshooting guides, and configuration standards.

  • Collaborate with Level 2 and Level 3 support teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.

  • Assist with basic Linux shell scripting and automation of routine tasks.

**Qualifications**

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar L1 support role for Linux and VMware environments.

  • Solid understanding of Linux operating systems such as CentOS, Alma, or Ubuntu.

  • Proficiency in VMware vSphere, including managing ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.

  • Experience with creating and managing virtual machines, templates, clones, and snapshots.

  • Familiarity with server hardware from vendors like Dell and Cisco.

  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including virtual switches (vSwitches) and distributed switches.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to document technical information clearly.

  • A strong desire to learn and develop new technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills (Good to Have)

  • VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA-DCV or VCTA-EUC) certification is a strong plus.

  • Foundational knowledge of public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), particularly around IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).

  • Hands-on experience with basic PowerShell or shell scripting for automation.

  • Familiarity with storage concepts such as SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel (FI), or iSCSI.

  • Exposure to management tools like UCS Intersight or Dell OpenManage.

  • Prior experience in an enterprise-level IT environment.

  • A foundational understanding of ITIL principles for incident and problem management.
