We are seeking a dedicated User Experience Researcher for a four month contract with the intent to go full time. This role focuses on enhancing user experiences through meticulous research and insightful analysis. You will play a pivotal role in understanding user needs, behaviors, and motivations to inform design and product development decisions, including usability for software as a medical device. As part of the UX and WHOOP Labs teams, you'll conduct in-person research studies, employing both qualitative and quantitative methods to gather actionable insights that drive our product. This position requires a deep commitment to improving user experiences by advocating for the user at every stage of the product development process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and execute comprehensive user research projects, utilizing a range of methods such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, and field studies, to gather deep insights into user needs and behaviors.
  • Collaborate closely with UX design, WHOOP Labs, Product Management, and engineering teams to translate research findings into actionable product insights and strategies.
  • Develop and refine user personas, journey maps, and usage scenarios to help the team understand user needs and behaviors.
  • Design and conduct A/B tests and other evaluative research methods to validate hypotheses and inform design decisions.
  • Present research findings to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and impactful manner, providing actionable recommendations for product improvements.
  • Foster a culture of user empathy within the team, ensuring user-centered perspectives are incorporated into product development.
  • Work closely with the WHOOP Labs ReOps team to manage research participant recruitment and logistics for in-person studies, ensuring a diverse and representative sample of users.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven track record in user experience research, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous research projects and their impact on product decisions.
  • Proficiency in a variety of user research methods and tools, including but not limited to interviews, usability studies, survey design, and data analysis.
  • Experience conducting in-person user research.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex research findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex research findings and recommendations in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Experience and familiarity with Usability Engineering for medical devices - IEC 62366, FDA Guidance.
  • A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, User Experience, or a related field.
  • A passion for creating products that meet user needs and exceed user expectations.

  • This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
