The National Football League (NFL) is looking for a Senior Wireless Engineer with strong background in enterprise wireless environments to join an innovative team of solutions engineers and architects. The Wireless Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a team of engineers where they will design, configure and maintain NFL wireless networks, supporting our critical services within media workflows, game applications, and backend services. The SME must have a strong technical background, with experience in the development of high-performance wireless networks. A successful SME will be a self-starter with an ownership attitude and excellent communication skills that is able to work within a team that delivers cutting edge solutions on tight deadlines.
This role is onsite, and can be based in any of our 3 offices: New York NY, Mount Laurel NJ, Inglewood, CA.
Responsibilities
Serve as a lead in the design, configuration, and maintenance of the NFL Corporate and Stadium wireless networks as they support Core NFL Game Technology, corporate wireless and backend services.
Establishes, documents, and maintains standards for wireless network systems, while also monitoring their performance and status using the latest network automation tools.
Provide dedicated support for on-site stadium wireless network and Wi-Fi technicians during NFL game days throughout the NFL season.
Function as a subject matter expert for wireless technology, representing the NFL IT Department internally to the NFL and Clubs and externally to Stadium Authorities and vendors.
Responsible for managing and maintaining wireless network diagrams, configurations, support, and training documentation.
Assist in the research, design and documentation for upgrades and adoption of new wireless network technologies.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including operations, security, Events, and others to align wireless network strategies with business goals.
Responds to technical escalations for wireless service issues, working with product support teams, IT staff and business groups to ensure resolution.
Provide reports for wireless network KPIs to show service levels, capacity analysis, performance, troubleshooting, and areas for improvement in wireless network infrastructure.
Provide technical support to various activities and internal infrastructure within the company.
Responsible for effectively engaging with IT project management and reporting project status.
Establish and adhere to set project plans and release dates.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, sharing expertise and knowledge.
Remain on the cutting edge by studying state-of-the-art wireless technologies, participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal wireless networks; participating in professional organizations on wireless topics.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred, with 10+ years of experience or equivalent military service.
Extensive hands-on experience exceeding 5 years in wireless network implementation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance, including channel planning, directional antennae configurations, and long-haul wireless applications.
Proficient in wireless network administration, particularly Cisco and Extreme products, with expertise in controllers, access points, routers, and switches.
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP Enterprise, JNCIP, or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, STP, NAT, IPSEC, GRE, etc.)
Understanding of networking concepts and principles, including but not limited to routing static/dynamic (EIGRP, OSPF, & BGP) and multi-layer switching (VLANs, VTP, Spanning Tree, etc.)
Familiarity with Cisco Identity Services Engine and DNA.
DAS and Cellular Spectrum Analysis experience beneficial.
Other Key Attributes / Characteristics
Strong grasp of wireless network best practices, security principles, design architecture, and analysis with use of tools such as Wireshark, WiFi Explorer etc.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex wireless network issues. 
Experience in troubleshooting wireless networking device drivers and client system issues. 
Experience in troubleshooting video and voice performance over wireless networks. 
Capability to research and evaluate new wireless network technologies.
Experience with IOT, sensors, wireless automated devices preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Skilled in creating and updating detailed infrastructure topologies using MS Visio, Excel, and Word.
Ability to work independently, prioritize issues and balance multiple projects.
Positive and proactive approach to collaboration and seeking out tasks from senior engineers.
Physical Demands
This role will require long periods of standing or walking and surveying stadiums and arenas. It will also require the racking of Network and Data Center Hardware.
Travel
This role will require working weekends, holidays, shifts outside of normal business hours, and overtime. It will also require travel between offices domestically in NY, NJ, and CA, and stadiums throughout North America and Internationally for installations, maintenance, and support.
