Position Summary;
Reporting to the WNBA Referee Performance & Development Leader, the WNBA Referee Performance & Development Advisor will participate in all aspects of WNBA performance and development, including the training and evaluation of WNBA referees. During the WNBA season, the primary focus will be to enhance the overall performance of the WNBA referee staff by providing developmental feedback to referees. Additionally, the role will assist with off-season, pre-season, and in-season clinics, camps, and candidate evaluations for hire to the WNBA.
Observe WNBA games In-Arena, Online, or on TV, as assigned, and complete evaluation forms for each official with video examples and developmental comments; observe G League games similarly as assigned
Observe and identify notable plays, performance trends, deficiencies, and growth opportunities for officials; provide feedback in person, through REPs, and in writing based on observations and each official’s developmental goals
Develop materials, deliver presentations, and provide other substantive support for various internal and external engagements, including department meetings, Head Coach Meetings, General Manager Meetings, Competition Committee Meetings, Referee Pre-Season Meetings, and special assignments
Attend various WNBA and Referee Operations events including but not limited to, Spring Head Coach’s Meetings, Fall CCM, W-RSPM, WNBA Pre-Season On-Court training events, G-League Winter Showcase, NBA Summer League events
Participate in training activities in collaboration with Referee Operations and Human Resources to develop the necessary skills to be an effective Performance and Development Advisor
