JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Security Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the shift in the absence of the supervisor, ensuring the execution of all security functions within the stadium and surrounding property. This role assists in overseeing day-to-day activities, including planning, assigning, and directing work, as well as training staff, evaluating employee performance, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with and leads supervision of staff, department logs, equipment, and event activity specific to security department documentation by:
- Ensuring staff is prepared for upcoming special events and day to day shift coverage by reviewing all event and stadium activity to provide briefing at beginning of shift and pass on information to incoming shift.
- Setting an example for proficiency and behavior on the shift
- Observing and correcting officer behavior, monitoring security 2-way radio transmission to provide direction and instruction when necessary.
- Providing performance feedback on officers to management
- Checking in on all event posts to ensure quality of work meets department standards.
- Interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new staff members for the shift.
- Providing and recommending training for officers on the shift by following up with updates to policy and procedures, getting feedback from staff regarding any needs they have to become better at their job, and assisting with new hires and part-time staff’s knowledge of the building.
- Overseeing event activity specific to the security department including setup and teardown of events, entry and exit of guests, load in, and load out for vendors and ensuring the of event spaces are appropriately secured.
- Ensuring logs, reports and equipment inventory are accurately maintained.
- Taking inventory of all department equipment and keys and reporting if any keys or equipment is missing or damaged to management. Double checking accuracy of logs and reports, making corrections as necessary, and following up with staff as needed to ensure proper reporting occurs.
- Covers command center, roving patrol and static posts in the absence of a staff member by:
- Providing coverage of command center to include taking all calls to the main security line, logging officer activity, monitoring surveillance cameras, monitoring radio traffic, monitoring access control system, checking out keys, and providing direction to rovers as needs arise.
- Providing inside roving patrol to include securing and re-securing doors as necessary, identifying and reporting suspicious behavior, looking for and reporting any abnormalities or damage to stadium property, and completing incident reports as necessary.
- Providing outside roving patrol to include securing and re-securing parking lots and stadium gates as necessary, identifying and reporting suspicious behavior, looking for and reporting any abnormalities or damage to stadium property, and completing incident reports as necessary.
- Providing coverage for static posts to include visitor check in at the north tunnel and gate 7, assisting with loading dock activity when the dock supervisor is not present, event post coverage, and any other posts as directed by management.
- Contributes to department team effort by:
- Ensuring staff is well informed and prepared for the shift.
- Contributes to updating and maintaining training materials.
- Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Must be 21 years old.
- Valid Colorado driver license.
- Ability to pass rigorous background check.
- 1-year of prior security experience.
- Understands and adheres to SMC Employee policies and procedures
- Prior security training related to surveillance, access control, x-ray, metal detector, and incident report response and documentation.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to cover mandatory event schedule.
- Understanding and use of security radio system.
- Understanding and use of surveillance camera, access control, and drone detection systems.
- Ability to operate of x-ray and metal detector equipment.
- Proficient at verbal and written communication.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Interacts with guests, employees, and partners in a professional manner.
- Ability to remain objective and be emotionally balanced when dealing with difficult situations.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to lead and work in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to monitor surroundings and recognize irregularities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, all Broncos home games, and public events as assigned.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITY
- 3-months prior experience as a full time Security Officer at Empower Field at Mile High
- Prior position or role which utilized leadership skills.
- Ability to provide training on security policies and procedures for new officers and existing staff.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and ability to respond quickly and appropriately under pressure.
- Prior security experience in the sports and entertainment industry.
- Strong Microsoft office skillset.
- Prior experience training employees.
- Prior experience as a supervisor.
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this position is $47,000 - $50,000. Salary based on assessment of qualifications.
