The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.
LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Associate, Sport Planning and Operations
The Associate, Sport Planning & Operations will play a critical role within the LA28 Sport team, reporting to the Manager, Sport Planning and Operations and supporting the centralized planning deliverables, operations and services of the Sport Planning and Operations sub-function. This role will work within Sport and with the Competition Management team to support the progression of function planning deliverables and collaborating with other LA28 Functions as needed. Projects supported by this role will include Sport Delivery Plans, Sport testing and readiness deliverables, Sport function planning projects and IF Services.
The role will be expected to collaborate within the Sport department as well as other LA28 functions within Games Delivery and Services/Logistics (i.e. Accommodations, Accreditation, Transportation, Logistics, etc.), and across the organization (including but not limited to Workforce, Central Planning, PMO, Finance, Risk).
Key Responsibilities:
Sport Planning
- Support the collection and validation of LA28 Function request of sport information for planning purposes
- Coordinate with Sport Competition on the collection and validation of centralized requests for planning information from other Functions
- Validate and update key sport information within the LA28 Data Warehouse and other source of truth documents
- Assist with Sport Workforce planning for Games-time, providing project support to the rest of the Sport team on related deliverables
- Assist the project manager for the event testing calendar to develop related documentation including presentations, calendars and other calendar tracking documents
IF Services
- Support the roll-out and development of Sport Delivery Plans (SDPs) in collaboration with Sport Managers
- Track all cross-functional deliverables and manage a reporting cycle on updates to be pushed out to all SDPs
- Administer dashboard reporting on the development of all SDPs, providing a consolidated view of progress, issues and delays
- Coordinate Sport Manager input into Games-time IF Services plans for technical officials, including accommodation, transport, air travel, uniforming and other services
- Act as the administrator for technical officials planning data including breakouts of officials by each sport and discipline as well as arrival and departure assumptions
- Provide administrative support for flight bookings within the IF Site Visit Policy with our Partner airline and where needed, research flight alternatives and costs based on route
- Track and map out expenses across IF Site Visits for budget planning purposes within the Sport team
Function Administration and Program Management
- Support and track updates to Sport’s master schedule and milestones
- Coordinate Sport updates, presentations and reports to be used internally and externally to communicate progress and issues within the Sport department
- Organize the Sport Planning and Operations weekly team meetings, managing the team calendar and project updates
- Organize larger LA28 cross-functional meetings and external stakeholder webinars, creating invitations, agendas, tracking attendance and updating presentations
- Maintain Sport’s SharePoint site and coordinate the organization of key Sport documents and version control
- Provide team support for the administration of legal and finance documents
Background & Qualifications:
- 2-+ years’ experience in administration and project management, ideally in the sport’s industry
- Experience working cross-functionally on project administration
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues
- Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft
- Excel and PowerPoint
- Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work
- Required proven ability of building good interpersonal relationships with people across the organization, while balancing assertiveness with diplomacy
- Ability to implement and manage change effectively
- Experience considering diverse groups of athletes in Sport planning and delivery, with special attention to how ability, gender, and other identities impact different athletes’ experiences.
Position Requirements:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The position is in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required.
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required

Submission Requirements:
The hourly range for this position is $30.29 - $35.00/hour. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
