Position Title: Associate UI Designer

Reporting to: Senior Design Director

Location: Newton, MA (preferred), Chapel Hill, NC, New York, NY, or Minneapolis, MN   

Compensation: Associate UI Designer 1 ($68,000 - $78,000) or Associate UI Designer 2 ($78,000 - $85,000), depending on qualifications; this role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus

Position Summary:

As an Associate UI Designer (Design Systems), you will have the opportunity to shape the evolution of our product user interface. We are looking for a team member with experience designing immaculate user interface components and patterns, authoring documentation for both other designers and front-end engineers, and curating a Figma component library, in order to distribute that component across all UX/UI work we produce. Our team is dedicated to rapid iteration and user-centered improvements in our digital products—and our design system is a lynch pin to being able to achieve this. 

This person should demonstrate UI design competency and have viable experience contributing to comprehensive, complex design systems. Ideal candidates will also have familiarity working with accessibility guidelines, and designing for different platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define all component use-cases in our digital product
  • Conduct comparative analysis of existing patterns and trends for each specific component
  • Specify and differentiate needs for device-specificity (Web, iOS and Android)
  • Produce UI designs for each component, in all relevant states
  • Ensure all components meet WCAG Level AA guidelines 
  • Produce component specifications for implementation and documentation for usage across all versions of our digital product
  • Build and publish component libraries in Figma
  • Work with front-end engineers to provide quality assurance and accuracy during implementation
  • Provide guidance for component adoption across project workstreams by collaborating with other UX/UI Designers
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping all Well systems and data, including sensitive member data, secure and safe, according to Well data and security policies and HIPAA guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant focus, such as user experience design, interaction design, or human to computer interaction 
  • Experience designing user interface for native mobile applications and web
  • Proficient designing, organizing, and distributing Figma component libraries
  • A portfolio of relevant design examples and Figma component specifications will be required
  • Interested in healthcare and/or personal health 
  • Inspired by collaboration, idea-sharing and experimentation
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills
